I have been following this dirty war against the Syrian people for the last 5 years and I have watched the Syrian Arab Army remain united, dedicated and efficient. I watched Canadian election monitors cover the election where Bashar Al Assad won over 80% of the vote in an election deemed fair by the monitors and former President Jimmy Carter.
The empire behind this war never figured on the loyalty, dedication nor cohesion of the Syrian Army and have been daily surprised by their application to the task at hand.
My brother Noel Hester, Jim Gladwin and I have also known the speaker Tim Anderson for over 30 years and trust his judgement completely. In his new book he debunks the lies about barrel bombs and chemical weapons use by the government.
The Syrian people fight fascism on behalf of us all and I am proud to call myself a friend of Syria and her people.
We cannot trust a word that the MSM say about this conflict. Hands Off Syria.
Tim Anderson – Syria: Five Years of War
The exclusion of Dr. Tim Anderson from the “Crossing Borders” conference, after first inviting him, is an epitome of intellectual dishonesty, based on raw political partisanship rather than rational, evidence-based analysis. The conference organizers hide behind a patina of academia, but their true nature is revealed by this action. They are unwilling to hear and evaluate the evidence that the forces attempting to depose the legitimate Assad government and causing massive morbidity and mortality in Syria are foreign-backed Takfiri jihadist terrorists and mercenaries supported by western imperialists and their proxies in the Middle East, including Turkey. The only person willing and able to provide credible evidence that Syrian refugees are fleeing war, not the government, has been excluded. The only person willing and able to provide credible evidence regarding the forces effectively fighting Takfiri terrorism in Syria (Assad, the Syrian Arab Army, Russia, Hizbullah and Iran) has been excluded. The signers of the letter calling for Dr. Anderson’s exclusion are a laundry list of the imperialist left and their numerous media and NGO connections, the “Left Boots of NATO” — the same people that have supported other disastrous imperialistic wars, including most recently those in Libya and Yemen, under the guise of humanitarian intervention. These left imperialists and the conference organizers can’t refute the evidence that they are supporting 31 flavors of Takfiri jihadis in Syria, resulting in the type of civilian massacre recently seen in the village of Al-Zara by Ahrar Al-Sham (one flavor of their “moderate” head-chopping and organ-eating terrorists). Of course, the intellectually honest thing to do would be to stack up the credible evidence and let the chips fall where they may. But the unavoidable conclusion is that the conference organizers and the Left Boots of NATO, gloating over their success in excluding the evidence compiled by Dr. Anderson, can’t refute his evidence. So, they resort to this shameful anti-intellectual tactic. Using their logic, then all of the people signing this letter, arguing that Anderson must be banned because he is an Assad supporter, should be banned from the conference because they support Takfiri jihadists in Syria. Equally shameful is the sponsorship of this conference by stopimperialism.com (maybe Eric Draitser should rename his site “supportimperialism.com — “We talk the talk, but we don’t walk the walk”). Tariq Ali should also be ashamed to be associated with this conference — he may not like the Assad government, but I would expect him to be intellectually honest enough to tolerate opposing views based on solid evidence collected by a careful researcher who is clearly one of the foremost experts on the situation in Syria.

I am in full agreement with you and Tim Anderson on the war on Syria. It is astounding that the same lie is retold to justify the destruction of another sovereign nation and so many people still believe it.
