I believe a temperature increase of 5C and more will occur much, much sooner than mid-century. This is clearly an extinction event for most if not all complex life on planet earth.
In my May 2015 Oral Submission to the N.Z. Ministry of Environment, I pointed out that both the IEA and Shell Petroleum admit that close to 5C is baked in but none of the large NGO’s nor the global Green Party’s nor their networks are prepared to face the reality of the crisis. I received zero feedback from the Ministry minions but a standing ovation from the concerned members of the public at the hearing process. My oral presentation is embedded in the above hyperlink:

Below is my latest email to him about Shell and BP admitting that 5C is baked in by the middle of the century. I’m sure you’re aware that 5C is an extinction event for most if not all complex life on the planet. When we exit stage left we will see 450 nuclear melt downs and over 1200 spent fuel pool fires which will be infinitely worse.
When are we going to start telling the truth about the severity of the climate crisis?
Surely the youth deserve the truth?

The planet and all species inhabiting it face an existential crisis and it seems that almost none of us have the courage to face what is now a “Fait Accompli.” What I find even more repulsive is the burden being cast on our youth to fix the un-fixable dilemma we have bequeathed them.
I see young people in my family and circle of friends continuing to have children. I firmly believe many children would be spared the impending horror if their young parents were aware of the armageddon bearing down on them. To quote David Attenborough “Population matters“
I took this photo whilst standing on the crater edge at Tanna Island in Vanuatu. From this point you can see down into the volcano crater, a boiling cauldron of molten lava, somewhat like what our entire planet is soon to look like;
Our youth are lied to from birth. Let’s not be the last generation, at the edge of extinction, lying to the youth.
It is only a matter of time before the living will envy the dead. Let’s start the grieving process while the situation is still relatively stable.

The reality is that 10C is baked in; We’re actually heading for a 10C global mean temperature increase in the coming decade or two. Probably much sooner.

I’ve tried to start a conversation with friends and family-to my regret. I watched a recent video on The Real News, where Jennifer Francis was interviewed, she admits at the end that several degrees are baked in, avoiding the Mann type of hopium. It would be interesting to know Shaws’ honest, personal opinions. As you say, maybe he doesn’t have the courage of his convictions (if I’m expressing it correctly?).

It takes a certain type of courage to cross this rubicon and few seem to have it.My desire is to stop the guilt tripping of our youth about them having to fix this unfixable clusterfuck that we have bequeathed them.
We do have to remember that Shaw used to be a finance executive who did consulting work for Coca Cola and Shell Petroleum, I suggest he has been corrupted.
I’ve sent this link to him at Parliament so no doubt he will see these comments. I look forward to his response!

Personally I don’t expect anything of politicians nor do judge them too harshly. They have to get elected and in NZ, only a three year term.
The problem is PEOPLE! And this system. Hambone captured it beautifully in his latest “depressed luddite whine”.
And you still only have to read the comments after any MSM climate change report, to know how many are still unrepentantly clueless.

The late, great Michael C Ruppert used to say, “Until you change the way money works you change nothing”, that has always been the predicament.
We never over threw capitalism and now as we sink into the abyss no one can face what we have done to the living planet.

I am in the US and about two years ago there was a huge announcement on every news channel it was made into such a media circus (for of course maybe five minutes then it was long forgotten) . It was secretary of state John Kerry standing next to some minister (maybe the environmental minister) of France and they made an announcement about only having a short time to avert climate chaos. The funny thing was when the minister used the term “climate chaos” Kerry made this face and looked up to the sky. Lots of people online posted about that face betraying what was really ahead for us. Now, two years later. I have yet to see anyone speak of this clinic chaos when obviously it’s happening all around us.

I stopped looking on the net for awhile regarding Cimate Change / Biosphere Collapse because the outlook for the future was affecting my mental health; with my mother passing away 2 months ago …I needed cheering up.
However we ignore this and it maybe too late anyhow.
I try too make each day count.
I have more solar electric cells than I need to give something back…

So in this series of press releases between Shell and the U.N. they pretend that 2C is acheivable but when Shell communicates with BP they admit that 5C is baked in before 2050.

Of course they will agree to net zero emissions by 2070, industrial civilisation and by default us sapiens will be long gone before then.

Well, we’re over 2C already and it’s only 2021. In 29 more years to 5C? How optimistic it sounds now, yes?
SomeoneInAsia, I’ve been of the same mind my entire life and managed to not father any children. I count myself lucky.
Greta has every right to be angry. As do we all because we are stuck in a controlled loop by those who profit from keeping the status quo going. We truly don’t have choices to make other than personal ones. The big changes are out of our hands.
That it is unraveling far quicker than this article premised is of no consequence to those who do profit, and they will no doubt continue with their program…until the methane lets go in the Arctic.
Nobody is going to survive that even in their bunkers and the Arctic is about to go dark…
