The “Belt and Road Initiative”and much more.Paving the Road to Collapse and Hospice.

There is no slowing down this juggernaut. We’re already off the cliff and they still have their pedal to the metal.
“The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) simply blows out of the water anything else that’s been attempted in human history.”
“As currently planned, it will involve some 7,000 separate infrastructure or extractive industry projects scattered across 70-odd nations, with a total price-tag of $8 trillion. It’ll span half the planet — from Asia to Africa, Europe and the South Pacific. It’ll affect every facet of human endeavor, in one way or another.”
It will be business as usual on steroids. Covered previously on this blog below;

Buckle Up and Cut the Crap, we’re on the ‘Belt Road’ to Armageddon.

Chris the Natural Progressive and I discuss the Belt and Road Initiative and the role it will play in the ongoing collapse of the biosphere in the video below. I don’t believe much of this project will get very far before collapse unfolds. My main point being that capitalism and the dominant culture will carry on pedal to the metal, full steam ahead. In the August episode of Nature Bats Last we interviewed Arthur Keller about the coming collapse here; “Collapse the Only Realistic Scenario”>

Chris and I discussed the issue of Hospice. I’ve previously written about Hospice here;
More information about the rapid stratospheric warming and destabilisation I mentioned is embedded here;
The Roger Hallam from Extinction Rebellion interview we mentioned is embedded here

Think for a moment about what life is like for the people of The Bahamas, the trauma for those who survived, the ecological chaos of the pollutants in the flood waters poisoning wells, aquifers, rivers and the adjacent oceans and all the flooded flat lands. The other animals affected.
Their fate, is all our fate, seize the moment.

I'm an anti-imperialist, environmental activist and blue ocean sailor, who is passionate about the earth and all it's inhabitants without favour. Brace for imminent impact as we bare witness to the non-linear unraveling of the biosphere and habitability disappearing for most if not all complex life on the only habitable planet we know of. To quote President Niinistö in North Russia: ‘If We Lose the Arctic, We Lose the World’. Folks we have lost the Arctic.

  1. When will the people evacuate all the low-lying islands of the Caribbean? And the rest of the world? That time is coming. Really freaking soon if the latest science is anywhere near accurate. But of course it’s always been conservative, even the so-called ‘alarmists’ were too flipping conservative!!! Isn’t that a hoot?

    Evac the coastlines worldwide, move out of the mountain/forests that are burning down, away from the expanding desert zones…where does SoCal, Arizona, Nevada move to? What are the Mormons going to do when Utah becomes an even worse desert (and they started fracking the Uinta Basin and TAR SANDS mining the freaking idiots!).

    When am I going to get burned out of the Selkirks in one of the raging conflagrations we are seeing all over the Western US?? Homeless and go where?

    We’ve lost the Arctic. The Jet Stream is ‘deformed’ to such a degree that…oh. Yeah. Well. More important is what’s on TV and what is the latest stupid shit being said by neoliberals like corporate war whore Biden and dementia-angry Trump and the rest of the US politicians that really need to SHUT UP AND LISTEN. Oh, and how many Facebook likes do I have today ’cause that is REALLY important?

    Oh, I forgot. I never signed up for Zuckerberg’s information vacuum sites! My bad.

    ThinkProgress and Joe Romm just shut down, but it looks like the ClimateProgress part is still up and running. He’s saying 14 months…article here:

    https://thinkprogress.org/we-dont-have-12-years-to-save-the-climate-we-have-14-months-71401316dbc4/

    Pretty scary shit. Or should I say it continues to become even scarier shit than the first climate book I read in… 1971? I was 17 years old. I forget the title. That one along with Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring my stepmom handed me even earlier to read pretty much boggled my mind! Then the the Limits of Growth came out and the ‘Genesis Strategy’ climate book in ’76 or so…and I was homeless at the time and still reading!

    And I never had kids though I did raise three of somebody else’s.

    Do something fun every day, Kevin and everybody else. This ride is getting a bit sticky, isn’t it, and it ain’t a-gonna get any better. Rather the opposite but that is something people reading this site are all aware of. I’m at ‘High Fire Danger’ according to the signs at the local fire station. And it rained last night and today but with no lightning. It has been in the 90sF. Really happy there weren’t any of the crazy bolts that blew through a couple weeks ago.

    That storm’s numbers bumped up with a recount of the satellite video. I had 3,500 lightning strikes in 2 hours. It was insane.

    Hospice. So today I adopted a roughly 7 year old black/white/gray curly-tailed Husky female with white eyebrows who has cataracts and can’t see so well. Needed a permanent home. She will hopefully spend the rest of her days here on these 8 acres. It’s the little things we do…we sure can’t affect change of the large ones at this point.

    Still enjoy checking in on your blog from time to time. Keep up the good work mate 🙂

    Not much of a comment but more of a link to an article from a brilliant writer named Phil Rockstroh.

    Cheers,

  3. Yep curiousekrik, I agree with your assessment of his writing. He’s been published at http://www.counterpunch.org for a while now, too, which is where I started reading him. His latest posted there today is the same article, and I’m sure you’d agree that he absolutely nails this country. What can be done about it is feeling pretty moot at this point, though.

    And this one I read yesterday on truthdig if you haven’t read it:

    The U.S. Military Is Destroying the Environment

    https://www.truthdig.com/articles/the-u-s-military-is-destroying-the-environment/#

    How unpatriotic it is!

    • Let nature be nature? Really? Just the freaking noise produced by our technology damages nature…so nature gets to be down below the technology thereby reducing living beings into just pretty pictures out the window that we have no connection to even more.

      Wow.

Kevin Hester is currently living on Rakino Island, a small island in the Hauraki Gulf near Auckland, New Zealand, monitoring the unravelling of the biosphere and volunteering at the Rakino Island Nursery is currently developing a proposal to create a marine reserve near by. The Island has no grid tied electricity or reticulated water.  I catch my own water from the roof and generate my electricity from the ample solar radiation on the island.
