As always the technique is to shift the baseline dates so that they can pretend that we’ve had much less anthropogenic warming than we’ve in reality triggered . I covered this issue previously Baseline Temperature dishonesty at the Edge of Extinction
Sam Carana at the Arctic News Blogspot is one of the few prepared to address the science and be realistic about the severity of our predicament. We’ll start with the truth and then get to the lies;

William Nordhaus received a Nobel Peace Prize for his junk science that 2C was safe when it clearly isn’t.
Nordhaus sealed our fate.
“I would place a price on carbon,” Michael E Mann, a Distinguished Professor of Atmospheric Science at Penn State, told Salon by email. “Whether this takes the form of a carbon tax (a revenue-neutral carbon tax? fee and dividend? cap-and-trade?), I leave that to the policymakers to determine as long as they accept, as the premise for policy, what the science has to say about the reality and threat of climate change. The price on carbon needs to be set such that it leads to a reduction in carbon emissions of several percent a year for the next few decades. If we do that, we can avoid a catastrophic 2C (~3.5 F) warming of the planet.”
Complete and utter bullshit unsupported by any real science.
Scientific Mal-Practice from the Mann Himself
Another perfect example of why we are completely and utterly fucked.
In this cluster fuck of lies the head of Oxfam NZ says we have only 10 years to reduce emissions to meet the 1.5C rubicon. Anyone with an internet connection and a hand full of brain cells knows that when using 1750 as a baseline we are well passed 1.5C and probably 2C.
When the head of these NGO’s spout this shit they aren’t mistaken, they are lying.

Why would all these scientists be lying ?

2) It’s impossible to get a research grant for a 5 or 10 year research program if we don’t have 5 yrs, so they have to pretend there is time.
3) Climate sensitivity has been grossly underestimated. No one wants to admit that they have failed so miserably. Full Earth System Sensitivity to CO2 has been Grossly Underestimated
4) Every scientist on the planet has watched the relentless attacks on my colleague and very dear friend Professor Guy McPherson. Guy has been under sustained attack for over a decade. Those attacks have resulted in what Dr James E Hansen called “Scientific Reticence” in other scientists.
5) In 2014 Dr Jason Box tweeted “If even a small fraction of Arctic sea floor carbon is released to the atmosphere, we’re f’d.” Dr Box copped a huge back lash and as a result he too now is showing scientific reticence. 6) The corruption of science;

The US is economically collapsing, at least for the majority of its citizens. Why is the average rent on a 1 bedroom apartment now $2,000 a month when the official Federal poverty level is below $12,760 for a family of one. So someone working FULL TIME 40hrs a week in a shit going-nowhere job (since there isn’t anything else) can’t afford to rent much less eat, go to the dentist, or afford bus fare to get to that crap job. And Obama made it6 a federal crime punishable by fines if you don’t buy ‘health insurance’ from a private for-profit corporation which of course they really can’t afford either so the IRS takes the fine directly out of your taxes returns. This is the country of Democrat Nancy Pelosi (net worth $125 million) and Donald Trump (net worth $5 billion supposedly). Many parts of this country are absolutely 3rd world conditions; extreme poverty, ignorance, and ignored.
That’s the real United States. The country where over 30% of the millennials have moved back in with their parents the last couple of years (Covid just accelerated the trend is all). The country where the wealthy progressives tell you to by an electric car for $70,000 to ‘stop climate change’ when your gross income can’t pay the damned rent.
It’s breaking down here, Kevin. Maybe, as usual, people are not wanting to notice. One paycheck away from being thrown out into the street, one medical bill from bankruptcy which the HMO’s and credit card companies managed to exclude the bills from being included by buying politicians who write the regulations.
And now we have ‘inflation’ completely created by the wealthy who own the corporations in order to raise the prices on everything because…they need more profit. It’s a sickness as surely as being addicted to heroin.
All human empires have collapsed from internal rot including the type of rot that destroys the environment that sustains them. But we’ve never had a totally tied-together worldwide civilization before. And never had 8 billion hungry mouths to feed. It’s already getting brutal, and this asshole business prof revels in it.
Big sigh. One minute of that guy’s mouth moving and I just had to let some of it out, eh?

AM snowing a little mixed with rain again out the window but definitely above freezing. I barely made it to the gate in 4×4, like driving in heavy oatmeal, and haven’t been off the property for ten days due to conditions. The county gravel roads are awful at this point but the 2-lane blacktop state highway was okay. Needed to ship a hat order to Utah that I finished last night and send off a couple of bills. Don’t want those corporations charging ridiculous late fees… Highest electric bill I’ve had this year, too….even with the summer of 112’F. Saw sunshine this afternoon coming back, briefly. A friend came by and plowed me out from the gate to the house before dark. Nice to have friends…

The MSM around the world is all owned by corporations who are all owned by the wealthy elite who are all in bed together. I can’t even remember all of them, too many to keep in my head, but a shitload have also been funded by the KOCH brothers over the years including starting the right wing Tea Party in the 90s.

This was a strange vid.
This is a Kiwi climate scientist, yes? So he’s pretty much saying ‘we’ as in the industrialized countries aren’t being that affected because we have better ‘response’ to ‘natural disasters’ so our death rates aren’t really going to take the big jump. In other words, don’t be so worried because we’ll pretty much be okay (at least for a while, eh?). But we should support helping other countries (the poorer ones that have always been looted for resources) recover from their disasters because we don’t want OUR supply chains to be affected, or have huge climate migrations of people clamoring to be let in (the ain’t seen nothing yet scenario that is seriously feared).
This is up to about 6:50 when he breaks in because Cyclone Gabriel hit NZ directly affecting the country. And then admits the country is still reeling from the impact of the storm. Oops. He continues: “The death toll was not high by international standards but every one of those deaths…the trauma…the losing of your homes and businesses and the landscape…lesser impacts does no mean low impacts.”
I guess when it’s YOUR country that gets trashed by a serious climate-destabilized storm it should be a wake-up call?
At this point I think he should have just NOT posted this video at all, or pulled it. The last 5 seconds he gets a really weird look on his face and says “Back to the video.”

Tipping points and at 8:10 this pops up: *this is highly uncertain and other studies come to the opposite conclusion” but doesn’t give any indication or links to who is saying this and their studies.
But we’ve only warmed the globe by over 1’C! He says. So no problemo for the industrialized countries then though we do ‘need’ to continue shifting to a less carbon-intensive future…but wasn’t 2022 the highest CO2 reading ever, and the emissions are not going down but I’m guessing he didn’t read about those numbers?
Kevin, this guy is, even with his monotone delivery, a seriously optimistic fella because the sum total of the ’emotional feeling’ to this is that yes it’s a problem but we are doing better especially there at the end.

The title itself exposes the discussion to criticism for the simple reason that collapse, and extinction are both baked in! Even the IPCC admits that climate change is irreversible!
Understating the risk is integral to the predicament.
He said we’re at 1.2C, and we’ll be at 2C by 2050 and 3C at the end of the century, what an ass, using 1750 as a baseline, he’s close to 1C out now let alone in 77 years!
Even Dr James E Hansen admits 10C is baked in with existing carbon in the atmosphere and what he called “Slow Feedback Loops”
This can’t be a mistake, he’s deliberately downplaying the warming we’ve already triggered.
This kind of hopium pedalling is reprehensible!
Fabian Dablander seems to be a data analyst who has just taken poor science and extrapolated those errors.
He’s a deserving entry in the Rogues gallery.

Oh, and it’s 8’C here, what little snowpack I had is almost completely melted off, and the ski hill is heading for a shutdown in the next ten days if they don’t get more snow. 96″ on Monday, 44″ yesterday, and they reported 44″ this morning and it was raining…this was measured at the highest and most protected spot on the Peak.
It’s so warm that they can’t even fire up all those shiny new snow guns the multi-millionaire slumlord from Seattle new owner put in because it’s too damned warm to blow ice crystals. Awww, can’t even drain more of the mountain aquifer to make snow at the start of February.

I’m having trouble trying to get my eyebrows to move back down to their normal place on my face! What fucking planet are these guys living on? Do they ever go outside from their air conditioned offices and air conditioned cars? Don’t they pay attention to the other species that we live around? Are they so insulated from what those of us living outside of urban areas are seeing happen with our own eyes? All they can think of is all those ‘economic’ benefits going to researchers who are having to go into therapy to deal with the horrifying depression of what their own research is showing them is happening in current reality because they don’t know what to tell their own kids.
At 5 minutes is the first use of the term ‘climate alarmists’ by an aptly-named professor named ‘Dick’ who of course served on the IPCC…
I keep wondering why these economic hoo-rah people continue to label Corporate Capitalism ‘the Free Market?’ Looks like it is completely captured by the wealthy elites that own all the corporations to me!
By the way, boys, there is one hell of a lot more money in fossil fuel than getting grants for climate research! Why bother with it when the goal is to become really, obscenely wealthy? Makes little sense when put that way, eh?
At 6:56 it goes “we are told that current temperatures are unprecedented and dangerously high.” That a load of crap because the geological record shows the planet has done this before numerous times in the past…but never in only 200 years. We’re the bleeding asteroid this time!

I’m surprised I never sent you a link to this Carlin skit. I have the live show this is on as I have so many of his shows both VHS and Dvd (yes I have a couple VHS players) including the 2017 Commemorative Collection I bought off of eBay a couple years ago that had a disk full of clips from the early 60s appearances that I’d never seen before. The boxed set even had the large fold-out poster of all the faces he’s been over the years…that is now on the wall of my shop where it belongs.
And yes, when it came to climate he didn’t really get just how bad it could be but he was an incredible social commentary comic and wordsmith and climate was not his forte so to speak.
When I bought the collection it allowed me to see how much he’d shifted from the Hippy Dippy Weatherman to the sharp as an ice pick he became later on. And yes, there are some of his ideas I didn’t agree with or would comment to myself that nope, that turned out to be wrong like this one on climate destabilization. Guy picking this skit apart was kind of redundant, ya know? At least for people that read the science and know we’re going to take an enormous number of species down with us.
