Militarism’s Role in the Sixth and Possibly Last ‘Great’ Extinction

U.S. Military World’s Largest Polluter – Hundreds Of Bases Gravely Contaminated
Producing more hazardous waste than the five largest U.S. chemical companies combined, the U.S. Department of Defense has left its toxic legacy throughout the world in the form of depleted uranium, oil, jet fuel, pesticides, defoliants like Agent Orange and lead, among other pollutants.”

“One of the most recent testaments to the U.S. military’s horrendous environmental record is Iraq.”
“U.S. military action there has resulted in the desertification of 90 percent of Iraqi territory, crippling the country’s agricultural industry and forcing it to import more than 80 percent of its food. The U.S.’ use of depleted uranium in Iraq during the Gulf War also caused a massive environmental burden for Iraqis. In addition, the U.S. military’s policy of using open-air burn pits to dispose of waste from the 2003 invasion has caused a surge in cancer among U.S. servicemen and Iraqi civilians alike.”

“The 20,000 tons of “stressors” mentioned in the EIS do not account for the additional 4.7 to 14 tons of “metals with potential toxicity” that the Navy plans to release annually, from now on, into inland waters along the Puget Sound in Washington state.”

“In response to concerns about these plans, a Navy spokeswoman said that heavy metals and even depleted uranium are no more dangerous than any other metal, a statement that represents a clear rejection of scientific fact. It seems that the very U.S. military operations meant to “keep Americans safe” come at a higher cost than most people realize – a cost that will be felt for generations to come both within the United States and abroad.” This story is continued at U.S. Military Worlds Largest Polluter

“Internal documents obtained by the Japan Times offer evidence that the contamination of local drinking water sources near a massive U.S. airbase in Japan is the result of years of repeated mishaps and “lax safety standards” by U.S. military forces.”

“The reports, obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, “expose a spate of accidents at the [Kadena Air Base in Okinawa] during the past 15 years that have involved at least 21,000 liters of fire extinguishing agents—some of them toxic.”

“The reporting cites several such instances, including a three-day period in 2001 when 17,000 liters of fire extinguishing agents were released and “attributed by base officials to mechanical and electronic malfunctions.”

“It also cites an incident in 2015 when “a drunk U.S. Marine activated a firefighting system. It filled a hangar with more than 1,500 liters of JET-X 2.75 percent—a foam classified by the U.S. government as hazardous. It contains chemicals known to cause cancer, and neurological and reproductive disorders.” That foam made its way to local waterways, but the base did not notify Japanese authorities.”

“The U.S. Pacific Air Forces issued a statement in January that—despite the detection of toxic substance in the drinking water sources— the water was safe because it is adequately treated before consumer use.”   New Docs Link Polluted Drinking Water Supply to Massive US Military Base

“Official Iraqi government statistics show that, prior to the outbreak of the First Gulf War in 1991, the rate of cancer cases in Iraq was 40 out of 100,000 people. By 1995, it had increased to 800 out of 100,000 people, and, by 2005, it had doubled to at least 1,600 out of 100,000 people. Current estimates show the increasing trend continuing.”
A forty fold increase in just 14 years in just the human species. This ecological and genetic destruction will also be cascading through the non-human species as well.

Two US-led wars in Iraq have left behind hundreds of tonnes of depleted uranium munitions and other toxic wastes. by

A constant disconnect I have witnessed in 40 years of activism is the failure to link ecological activism and anti-war activism. Every war is a war on the biosphere and all it’s inhabitants. It’s not particularly complex, it’s the Military Industrial Complex;

WAIHOPAI SPYBASE PROTEST    Aotearoa New Zealand

    January 25-27, 2019

“In light of the disastrous Trump Presidency – why is New Zealand still an active and willing part of the US Empire? The US intelligence and nuclear war machine controls the NZ Government Communications Security Bureau. The GCSB is now legally allowed to systematically spy on New Zealanders; as well as routinely spying on any number of other countries, on behalf of the US National Security Agency (NSA). And the NSA spies on everyone. More pressure must be put on the Government to end the anti-democratic and destructive activities of this NZ spy agency.” Anti-Bases Campaign

On the December 2018 episode of Nature Bats Last, myself and Professor Guy McPherson will interview Roger Hallam from the Extinction Rebellion movement where I intend to address this disconnect. The show will be uploaded to the archive with the previous 121 shows which are embedded at the following link; Nature Bats Last on The Progressive Radio Network.

“The WFP has warned that Yemen is on the brink of a full-blown famine, with 18 million of its 29 million population food insecure, 8.4 million severely so.”
The war on Yemen is being conducted by the monsters in the House of Saud who  recently murdered and dismembered Jamal Kassahoggi, a former journalist with the Washington Post.”A campaign to remove Saudi Arabia from the UN Human Rights Council has been launched by a group of British lawyers, who argue the desert kingdom’s membership of the body is “contradictory and ironic”.Saudi Arabia should be dropped from UN Human Rights Council, say British lawyers

Soon the living will envy the dead, the time we have left is infinitely less than most realise or are prepared to accept.
“At the edge of extinction, only love remains”.

I’ll leave the last word to the late great Bob Marley who I had the honour of seeing play in Aotearoa N.Z. in 1979. Almost no one listened to the message Bob, sorry.

I'm an anti-imperialist, environmental activist and blue ocean sailor, who is passionate about the earth and all it's inhabitants without favour. Brace for imminent impact as we bare witness to the non-linear unraveling of the biosphere and habitability disappearing for most if not all complex life on the only habitable planet we know of. To quote President Niinistö in North Russia: ‘If We Lose the Arctic, We Lose the World’. Folks we have lost the Arctic.

“A new analysis on Monday showing that the world’s military spending surpassed $1.9 trillion last year, once again led by the United States under President Donald Trump, provoked demands that governments across the globe prioritize peace and the health of people as the coronavirus pandemic continues to ravage the planet.”

“The latest annual report from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) found that the top military spenders after the U.S. were China, India, Russia, and Saudi Arabia. Total spending in 2019 was 3.6% higher than in the previous year and accounted for 2.2% of global gross domestic product (GDP).”

  2. Kevin Hester says:

I’ve been saying for years that if your an environmentalist and your not opposed to militarism and imperialism you’ve missed one of the biggest culprits that is grinding the living planet into dust.

  3. Kevin Hester says:

“Among others, the book documents “the U.S. Army disposing of 29 million kilograms of mustard agent and nerve agents, and 454 tons of radioactive waste” into the Pacific Ocean.”
The level of dumping of radioactive elements is always worse than we know and we know it’s bad.

  4. Kevin Hester says:

Murdering civilians in the Middle East is extremely profitable. Because we didn’t protect the people in Syria and Yemen we’ll all soon victim to these wars as they are putting our climate crisis on steroids.

  5. Kevin Hester says:

“A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death.”

  6. Kevin Hester says:

“In 2017, the US military bought about 269,230 barrels of oil a day and emitted more than 25,000 kilotonnes of carbon dioxide by burning those fuels. The US Air Force purchased US$4.9 billion worth of fuel, and the navy US$2.8 billion, followed by the army at US$947m and the Marines at US$36m.”
The US military and the independent states response to the threat it poses is grinding the living planet into dust.
The article is a year old so the damage will be worse than stated.

  7. Kevin Hester says:

This is how organised life on the planet draws to a close.
Incessant warfare being a large contributer to anthropogenic climate change.

  8. Kevin Hester says:

New to conflict and the environment? We’ve summarised the main ways that wars and militarism harm the environment.

  9. Kevin Hester says:

We Can’t Fight the Climate Crisis Without Fighting the Military-Industrial Complex
If we’re serious about stopping impending climate disaster, we have no choice but to radically rein in one of the world’s worst polluters: the US military.

  10. Kevin Hester says:

“About 886,000 trees are felled annually to feed bakeries and restaurants in the capital, Sanaa, alone. [Khaled Abdullah/Reuters] ”
Ecological carnage directly attributable to the amalgamation of imperialism and fascism.
If your an ecologist and aren’t an anti-imperialist you’ve missed a huge connection.

  11. Kevin Hester says:

Imperialism and the independent states response to it are grinding the living planet into irradiated dust.

  12. Does this article tell the truth about the insanity of the military or what?

Since 9/11, US Has Spent $21 Trillion on Militarism at Home and Abroad
“Our $21 trillion investment in militarism has cost far more than dollars.”

And we can’t afford universal health care. And we can’t afford free education through graduate school. And we can’t afford switching the hell off fossil fuel. Etc etc etc.

    Oh my hell.

  13. It is definitely looking like this violent militaristic-capitalist empire that I live in is planning ahead:

By 2023 women will have equal status for the first time in US history! Shouldn’t we celebrate that?

So….when it comes to being forced to go murder people in another country that refuses to let US corporations take what they want; or won’t do what the empire tells it to do, some politician can decide, AGAIN, that a nice little invasion will further a political career and women will be just as equal as men. Whoo-hoo!

And, like my age group (I was at the tail end of the Viet Nam Draft), they’ll face prison if they don’t register much less if they refuse to commit murder because some fucking politician decided it was a good idea. Now that’s true equality!

But when it comes to the right to choose to be pregnant…look out! Texas just outlawed abortion providers while allowing everybody to become Bounty Hunters who can sue anybody that supports woman’s choice and helps her. And of course the US unSupreme Court which is full of right-wing Catholic buttwipes didn’t think it was worth debating. The only real woman Justice Soto(the christian right wing nutcase I’m not counting as truly

Wow, I don’t know if I can take much more of this Equality shit. But then I have always not been surprised at how many women have been joining the military over the last few decades. That sort of to me proves that woman are not really smarter than men but very equally ignorant.

I know, I’m generalizing. To me it’s quite sad that this is so.

  14. This article is proof that nothing is going to change with the US military budget…except ever more down the outhouse hole. Vested interest in Status Quo will see to that, and the politicians a fraction of this tax money buys…

The US is bankrupt like all empires at the end of their lifespan. Tottering like a dead tree about to fall in the wind. I’m not going to like this at all, at all.

Up to Half of the $14 Trillion Spent by Pentagon Since 9/11 Has Gone to War Profiteers
A new analysis shows that a “large portion” of Pentagon contracts in recent years have gone to just five companies: Lockheed Martin, Boeing, General Dynamics, Raytheon, and Northrop Grumman.

  15. Kevin Hester says:

War in the East, war in the West, war up North, war down South, soon everywhere will be at war.
All wars are resource wars, abrupt climate change is making resources more scarce, off course they will fight over the last piece of habitat.

    • Your vid link on the Insurance thread talked about the 1,000 military bases of the US empire somewhere in it back a bit (I’m at 44 minute in as I’m watching it in sections). All wars are resource wars…well ya steal what you can while you can before anybody else comes in to steal it first. Isn’t that the Prime Directive of all empires?

But what I mostly got out of this link is the military minds only see to truly protect their own. assets; personal, war fighting material, bases, ships, etc as the US SecDef is quoted saying. Not really much about SHUTTING DOWN FOSSIL FUEL because, after all, that’s what the US military runs on! Cannot lose control of the fuel to make war!

Climate ‘adaption’ plans? Really? Just how the hell does somebody adapt to 50’C temperatures? Every day? But this isn’t about having a civilian infrastructure, it’s all about military. Almost a trillion dollars a year that we know about going to the US military, and no matter what party is in power it just keeps going up. That isn’t going to change

Stupid bullshit with the “US having a distinct advantage over its enemies” when the outside is not survivable. But there will always be plenty of ignorant meat for the military grinder volunteering to go kill whomever they are pointed at without a single thought as to why they are doing this and if it’s wrong. Who’s the enemy today, who will it be tomorrow? Patriotism, Nationalism, Colonialism, Fascism, Plutocracy, Oligarchy, Empire, whatever the hell one calls it the end result is always really, really disastrously bad as they all eventually fall into…well, sure are a lot of ruins all over the planet, ya know?

Big sigh. Madness at all levels as the end of resources that allowed civilization/cities to rise comes into the view of those who always want to control the world.

    • Climate wars are already ongoing. At least ‘local’ wars like the Syrian collapse due to a massive drought that preceded the ‘civil’ war before the US politicians decided to crash the party… But the US knows nothing but using its military against everything which, of course, isn’t going to work since said military is the largest single GHG emitter in the world/

This pretty much tells the story:

Sorry, Biden: There Is No “National Security” Solution to the Climate Crisis

The Biden administration is turning to agencies like the Pentagon and the Department of Homeland Security to shore up climate action.

  16. So this US most likely nuclear missile-armed sub crashed into probably another sub inside the territorial waters of China near their sub base…and the NY Times has not reported a single word about it. Hmmmm. Seems like the US military, as always, wants to start some shit.

This article takes apart the ‘official’ wording quite well:

Cover-up of U.S. Nuclear Sub Collision in South China Sea: a Wake-up Call for East Asia – and the World.

    • Kevin Hester says:

The incessant provoking of China by the empire of chaos has to stop or it will be stopped.
The possibility of a accidental conflict or more likely a false flag is high, this is how the military industrial complex business model works.

  17. Oh, Kevin, it WILL stop at one point or another. Be sure of that. But I’m not saying we are going to like it.Do you really think the air raid sirens are going to go off warning people of an incoming nuclear missile attack? The first we’ll know of it is when a sun-bright bulb goes off if we’re far enough away from cities and not facing that direction…

I have shown how corrupt the IPCC are and how controlled by the corporations the entire process is.
    Here’s more evidence

    • Well, yeah, of course the military of all governments is exempt. One just simply must have overwhelming firepower in order to continue to exert control of the fossil fuel needed to keep overwhelming firepower’s lucrative contracts going out to the corporations that build all it.. Can’t make any money unless the overwhelming firepower is moving as what good is overwhelming force if all of it is out of gas?

I mean, an unmovable 50-ton tank sitting behind a fence or an anchored aircraft carrier full of out of gas bombers is absolutely useless when a country wants to impose its will, right? An empty gun makes a terrible club much less oil-dependent techno-murder machines. Then add all the food being grown by petro-fertilizers and we got problems, eh?

Finished a sci-fi by John Brunner last night, one that I read when it came out in the early 70s titled ‘The Sheep Look Up.’ I haven’t read it since and didn’t really remember it but it’s become a ‘cult classic’ of dystopia so I picked it up. At the end of the book guess who had the last of the fossil fuel, all that overwhelming firepower, and the will to kill anybody standing in their way while continuing to blissfully destroying the life cycle of the planet while regaling the sheep with propaganda on how everything is ‘going back to the way it was?’ Even though what’s left of the population is sick, diseased, growing more mentally incapable of thought while they starve on poisoned food because the ground can no longer grow food that is healthy enough to eat or produce water clean enough to drink. Does this sound a little familiar to you, Kevin? Ha!

Yes, a book where there was no happy ending. Just as there won’t be with what we all are facing at one point or another no matter what part of the planet one is standing on.

Now how about some humor? Kyle Rittenhouse, the 17 yr old that crossed state lines with an AR-15 he was not legally allowed to have in order to shoot BLM protesters and save ‘america’ had his judge decide in his favor that calling the murdered people ‘victims’ wasn’t allowed. But the defense labeling the murdered as ‘looters and rioters’ was okay. And he has now also gone on a rant quoting from the Christian Bible FROM THE BENCH before he tossed a juror from the courtroom.

You can’t make this shit up.

  19. I forgot to include this BUT the title is seriously mis-leading!!

The ONLY thing passed was the infrastructure bill that will give wheelbarrows and truckloads full of money to corporate owners. The Social Welfare/Climate part which we knew was doomed from the start was cut from it.

When the wealthy bought & paid for compromised R or D politicians of the corporate 1-party state don’t want something desperately needed by the rest of the population, it ain’t a-gonna happen. But the corporations will get their government contracts to build sub-standard bridges and roads and all the rest for big cash payouts! And wait until the ‘adjusted costs’ bills start rolling in.

Biden And Congress Agree: Build Back Bombs Better
$1.75 Trillion for the Social Welfare/Climate Bill; $1.75 trillion for “modernizing” nukes.

One just loves Lesser Evil Voting.

  20. Kevin Hester says:

    Abbey Martin confronts Pelosi brilliantly

    • I’m in an OB Rag thread based on Pelosi being the ‘Greatest of All Time Speakers’ and I just laid this on them and I don’t know if it will be posted in comments as my even-more-nasty earlier post a couple of days wasn’t

Too much lesser evil voting and Trump derangement syndrome and Democrats can do no evil because…vote Dem as there isn’t any other choice type of thinking some days…but then in this 1 Party State (based on corporate wealthy funding both sides) there really isn’t a choice at state or national levels.

Democrats became Reagan Republicans under the rightwinger Clinton regime while the Republicans who voted for Reagan ran right off the side of the table to land in the Fascist shitpile with ‘Shotgun’ Dick ‘Dark Lord’ Cheney and his little sockpuppet WBush. Of course we know Wbush was ‘picked’ by the unSupreme Court full of right wing neocon republicans thereby breaking the US Constitution and rapidly aiming this country even quicker off the cliff…but that’s okay because that’s the way it’s always been.

Somehow I don’t think this below is going to go over very well, either. But you post my comments and so does the RAG…most of the time.

      sealintheSelkirks November 10, 2021 at 3:50 pm

      Your comment is awaiting moderation.

COP 26 and Abbey Martin asks Pelosi about the Pentagon massive budget and latest bi-partisan increases for the largest single polluter on the planet that EQUALS 140 countries combined emitted CO2 yearly totals.

This is her answer after New Jersey Rep. Frank Pallone interrupts as she walks around the stage unable to answer.

I find his reasoning extremely convoluted trying to justify the concept that we need to NOT talk about the horrendous damage the military is doing to the climate because he’s talked to them about what they are going to do to…protect the country from…the chaos the Pentagon is helping IN A BIG WAY to create.

Why is this country spending the EXACT the same amount to ‘modernize’ our outrageous nuclear arsenal as the Build Back Better budget though it has been radically chopped up and the Social and Climate parts were deleted t0 be ‘discussed’ at a later date?

Like you said Ms. Zimmerman, it’s all about insiders but half a loaf? Honestly, the way the Dems back down from everything when the bullies start screaming I wouldn’t count on even that But then it IS a corporate largess bill because I’m sure they’re the ones going to get the contracts. Just like they do from the Pentagon.

Kevin, $1.75 trillion to make war better and easier. Man, I hope I’m in the middle of a damn city at ground zero when the Idiocracy we live under finally blows itself up.

“On the show, Chris Hedges discuss the corporatization and corruption of American science with the author Clifford D. Conner.”
“Science in the United States almost exclusively serves the interest of corporate and military power. Science historian Clifford Conner writes that the corruption of science exploded with the 1942-1945 Manhattan Project, the first “big science” project in which the government spent massively on developing the atom bomb. Science, from this point forward, became big business. Scientists are employed in “hypothesis-driven” research to promote the interests of the food industry, the tobacco industry, and the fossil fuel industry, attacking or silencing scientific studies that cast doubt on the claims of these industries. The result is a society awash in lies, many of them buttressed by bogus scientific studies carried out to reach the conclusion demanded by those who pay for the studies.”

    • And then there is this:

Congress Forces Weapons Spending the Pentagon Wanted Cancelled

I mean, what the hell does one say to incredibly stupid shit like this? There sure doesn’t seem to be a damned thing one can do about any of it except, of course, fall deeper into starving helpless debt.

Voting doesn’t work. That’s damned obvious to even the cognitively challenged (stupid people) at this point but the unfortunately part is that those people tend to vote for…morons, grifters, liars. But then there’s the other corporate party who DOES EXACTLY THE SAME THING but just to a different identity political base…

The merging of State and Corporate Power is complete in this country. Has been for years in my opinion. Fuck Eisenhower, he helped then complained AFTER he left office. What a chump.

The USA is a Mussolini-style Fascist State. If for no other reason, this little political byplay certainly proves it.

    • sealintheselkirks says:

I read somewhere that there were about 38 million Iraqis in 2003 when the US invaded. One dead out of every 38. So if you look at it per capita that means that to equal that death percentage of the population we would have lost…what? About 8.7 million? Is that why the US attacked, in revenge?

Oh wait, Iraq never invaded the US, never dropped a single bomb or missile, had nothing to do with 9/11 attack, it was the Saudis who planned, funded, and executed it.

Why isn’t the knowledge of who bin Laden was more widespread? Because it serves this Empire’s rulers interests to keep factual reality out of the serfs minds… It wouldn’t do to allow anything that contradicts the propaganda out of its box.

As a matter of fact most people I’ve talked to over the years have no idea that Saddam was put in power by the CIA and funded by US taxpayers for decades because he did what the US told him to do; sell their oil to the US corporations. Oh, and they did the little things like invade Iran and used chemical weapons to kill maybe a million Iranians provided by the West. Saddam was a good US puppet, and he let women go to school and drive cars and wear blue jeans! An enlightened despot? How novel!

And how many Iraqis did Wbush’s daddy kill when he invaded ten years earlier? Have to add that number in, too, I would think. Iraq was a dictatorship but it was the US’s dictatorship and If only Saddam would have kept doing what he was told instead everything would have been fine, right?

But why does all this keep happening? Because the US is an Oligarchy operated for profit by very very rich men who want to keep the wealth flowing…to themselves. That’s why. There is no ‘democracy’ here, just a status quo that never fails to enrich the already wealthy.

This popped up today and goes right along with Blair’s ‘knighthood’ I think:

This is not for the faint of heart.

I wish that all of our so-called leaders of the military, corporate, political could be gathered together into a nice warm amphitheater naked filled with hundreds of decaying corpses piled inside for the last three weeks and then be forced to watch this movie. Would that make any difference in their insanity?

From Day 1 to Day 30; a collection of different people that are the ‘lucky ones’ who survive an irradiated planet after bumping into one another as they flee on the day of the bombs, and then hiding away together in a farmhouse basement.

What a bitter taste in my mouth. Very well done, well acted, well thought out. The stark brutal reality that our freaking leaders don’t seem to understand.

Who IS this fucking guy? With a name like ‘Link’ you’d think he would not use the term “natural events” for what the Navy is having to ‘adapt’ to! He should be able to LINK those connected climate dots into a cohesive pattern that shows cause, right? MIC through and through.

As if they are going to EVER be able to adapt to what’s coming! Holy crap, this dude is seriously annoying and I’m only at 1:35!

“Get our arms around…what can be done most effectively..UMMMM” he says. Biggest threats are sea level rise and storm surge? What about the 150mph winds, dude, when a Category 5 hurricane runs in? And what’ll they have that’ll stop buildings blowing over when a Cat 6 or 7 rips into one of there far-too-many bases? Those are probably coming to the US Southeast since 200mph Typhoons have hit the s/w Pacific in the last few years, 200mph winds are definitely above a 5 rating, don’t you think?

You’re a Deep Water sailor; can you imagine being at sea in a 200mph wind? I just sailed Sabots and Sunfishes and Hobiecats when I was young. When the afternoon on-shores blew in it was hell tacking upwind against those mild breezes! I can’t even imagine 200mph…

And heat and drought nails the poor Army Bases and Air Force landing strips. Since jets can’t take off when it gets too hot and soldiers don’t march so well when their tongues are swelling up in their mouths? Well, yeah, I would imagine so since they aren’t OCEAN-BASED. Duh. And “occasionally you have wildfires?” Seems like he’s a bit behind on that, too.

Uncounted billions for the military to ‘adapt’ but there ain’t squat for the rest of us who are paying that bill (not the wealthy, that’s for sure!) with nowhere to hide much less living in a structure that can withstand what’s already here much less what is most likely coming!

From MintPressNews: Abby Martin interview. The irony of this… I don’t think you’ve posted this elsewhere and since I pop into their site now and then to catch up this caught my eye. It sure does show the corruption that isn’t going to change because the Elites are already planning for a destroyed world. Just wow. A thermonuclear hydrogen bomb is far more powerful than an atom bomb.

“Mankind invented the atomic bomb, but no mouse would ever construct a mousetrap.” ~Albert Einstein

The biggest bomb (that we know of) is Russian at 50 megatons.

The Terrifying True Scale of Nuclear Weapons

I am roughly 40 air miles northeast of Spokane and the Fairchild AF base slightly west of the city. I have a north to south ridgeline approximately 1,500 meters between me and them. The average Russian bomb in their arsenal is 350 Kt.

The air shock wave will probably knock my wood house down but most certainly will blow all the windows into lethal flying fragments. If I’m looking in that direction I will probably be completely flash blinded. If It’s a hydrogen bomb (which it probably will be since atom bombs are so old school) I most likely be under the mushroom cloud as it spreads out.

We are not an intelligent species. But I try to live beyond that box…

Read this today as it popped up. Never heard of this paper so I don’t know anything about who owns & operates it. But since Russia just tested a new missile that streaks like lightning…oh my WWIII gets closer and closer though of course it has always been hanging over our heads like the moon. But at least the moon won’t fall on us, ya know?

Finally some humor in this, shall we say ‘situation’ in Ukraine.

The second article calls it, it’s now Biden’s war on Russia. It used to be Obama’s but no neoliberal Democrats seem to want to remember that. But hey, look on the bright side as it might be that our dear leaders will actually solve global warming.

Though the morons foot soldiers of the GOP don’t understand or realize it, the ‘Republicans’ they claim to follow are actually what are called Democrats now which, as we know, is just another word for Fascism-lite. So this is what Biden the leftist has created and woe to those of us that disagree:

US gov’t creates Ministry of Truth run by cold warrior who smears independent media as ‘Russian disinformation’

The authoritarian Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that oversaw the War on Terror created a “Disinformation Governance Board,” led by anti-Russia information warrior Nina Jankowicz, who ran regime-change ops at a CIA front, smears independent anti-war US media outlets as “Russian disinfo,” and called WikiLeaks “scum.”

I’m terribly sorry that there isn’t anything We the People can do to stop this from destroying the world, Kevin. But then it never was a democracy in this country. It’s always been an oligarchy of the wealthy from the very first day…

This just keeps getting better and better in that Chinese curse kind of way. ‘May you live in interesting times’ is certainly swirling through this country like…Covid. Which, by the way, is expected to slam this nutty population by end of Summer/Fall with the new variants and lack of intelligence though there was another request for $5 billion in new funding for ‘covid mitigation efforts.’ How do you think that’s going to go, eh? $33 billion more for the proxy war on Russia bit what you want to bet they won’t be able to find the money for a pandemic?

Are ignorant and/or stupid people truly better off than those of us who think? I’m starting to think so. It must be so much simpler, ya know? Just do what you’re told with thoughts only based on what you are told to have.

Kevin Hester is currently living on Rakino Island, a small island in the Hauraki Gulf near Auckland, New Zealand, monitoring the unravelling of the biosphere and volunteering at the Rakino Island Nursery is currently developing a proposal to create a marine reserve near by. The Island has no grid tied electricity or reticulated water.  I catch my own water from the roof and generate my electricity from the ample solar radiation on the island.
