Climate Change and the Nuclear Convergence

On December 09 2015 I was interviewed by Libbe HaLevy from nuclearhotseat.com

The nuclear nutcases are using our climate catastrophe to promote their genocidal industry. Nuclear power, the toxic spawn of the military industrial complex.
My first interview on Nuclear Hotseat is embedded here
I made a bad error in the interview saying I was arrested with Peter Wilcox, I was wrong about which Greenpeace skipper was on the vessel on the day we were capsized by the cops!
Another interview with other anti-nuclear and myself is embedded below.

Listen to the interview at the link embedded here.

I'm an anti-imperialist, environmental activist and blue ocean sailor, who is passionate about the earth and all it's inhabitants without favour. Brace for imminent impact as we bare witness to the non-linear unraveling of the biosphere and habitability disappearing for most if not all complex life on the only habitable planet we know of. To quote President Niinistö in North Russia: ‘If We Lose the Arctic, We Lose the World’. Folks we have lost the Arctic.

“Supporters of nuclear power like to argue that nukes are the key to combatting climate change. Here’s why they are dead wrong.”

“Every nuclear generating station spews about two-thirds of the energy it burns inside its reactor core into the environment. Only one-third is converted into electricity. Another tenth of that is lost in transmission. According to the Union of Concerned Scientists”:

    Somewhat unrelated (but not really):

    Are you a New Zealander?

If not, how did you arrange to immigrate to NZ? My understanding is that it’s difficult.

Around the 12 minute mark in this chilling ( pardon the pun) episode of Radio Ecoshock Alex’s guest discusses nuclear power stations having to shut down in heatwaves in Russia, so much for Nuclear being an alternative to fossil fuels.

So much for nuclear energy being a substitute for fossil fuels on a broiling planet!

The nuclear industry describes themselves as being “Zero carbon”.
Complete nonsense of course, with all the mining and processes needed.
It takes 10 years to build a nuke plant; that’s a decade of mining, processing, transporting and construction emissions.
Additionally, the cooling towers emit huge amounts of water vapour. which is itself a greenhouse gas, the most prolific one in fact.

Kevin Hester is currently living on Rakino Island, a small island in the Hauraki Gulf near Auckland, New Zealand, monitoring the unravelling of the biosphere and volunteering at the Rakino Island Nursery is currently developing a proposal to create a marine reserve near by. The Island has no grid tied electricity or reticulated water.  I catch my own water from the roof and generate my electricity from the ample solar radiation on the island.
