We live on a water planet, kept habitable for complex life forms by the existence of Ice moderating the Green House Effect. That ice and habit-ability are going away at an ever increasing rate. Conservative estimates suggest we are losing between 150 to 200 species every day . That figure must be viewed through the prism that we have only identified about 15 or 16% of all species on the planet
Daily there are more articles being written about the patently dire situation we find ourselves in, often mis-representing it as a problem (which have solutions), when in fact Climate Change is a predicament. Predicaments don’t have solutions. The MSM are controlling the narrative and telling half truths. If I had a Rupe for every time I have heard the 2100 meme, I could feed the sub-continent.
Very few writers are prepared to face the obvious conclusion that the energy balance of the planet has been irretrievably lost and habitat is collapsing from the North Pole to the South and with the Third Pole, the Himalayan mountain range glaciers, in precipitous collapse. These glaciers and their ever increasing melt water provide drinking and agricultural water for over 20% of the global human population and are the life source for billions and billions of other species both flora and fauna. This life giving sustenance is rapidly melting and flowing away and what is left is increasingly polluted.
Carved into the ‘virtual’ headstone of our species will be the epitaph; ” Humans became extinct and took down all complex life on Planet Earth due to their fatal addictions to Hubris, Patriarchy, Human-supremacy, Cognitive Dissonance, un-supported ‘Hopium‘, a crack like addiction to carbon and an economic system of capitalism which ground the living planet in to dust.”
( Read Derrick Jensens’ seminal book “The Myth of Human Supremacy” )
As we face this predicament together we are all trying to find a way to navigate the rocky road we face before us but because the species or at least the vast majority of it, is unprepared to even face the reality, we are losing valuable time to prepare for the onslaught of exponentially increased poverty, famine, heat and a multitude of new or re-released pathogens and diseases that will reappear from the melting permafrost and the transition of species from one habitat to another. Not to mention the coming habitat wars and inevitable imho nuclear winter
Climate change writers are invariably using the words “Might” and “Could” to preface articles where there is zero chance of the outcome being anything but certain.
Case in point; 95-Degree Days: How Extreme Heat Could Spread Across the World Why would you say could????? Question everything.
One would think that we would at least be able to trust the large NGO’s like Greenpeace and 350.org but alas that is no longer true. They have been co-opted into corporate structures dependent on on-going financial sustenance from their supporters. Telling their audience the truth threatens their multi million dollar cashflows and the thousands of paid ‘Activists’ their jobs. Follow the Money.
For excellent critiques of the “NGO Complex” I highly recommend Wrong Kind of Green “THE ROAD TO HELL IS PAVED WITH CORPORATE PROFITS AND COMPROMISED NGOS” and 21st Century Wire
There is now no longer any doubt that the bio-sphere is headed for catastrophic collapse and the main stream media knows it. Hence the campaign to project well out into the future ie; 2100 or 2050 as the dates when the situation will be dire when in fact for billions of both the human and other species the situation is already dire and terminal.
This blog will endeavour to call out the disinformation as we proceed to collapse but I’m far from being a “One Man Band”.
Follow the blogs below for a dose of reality. As un-palatable as it is, we are at least trying to arm our readers with the best and most honest analysis we can.

“At the edge of extinction, only love remains”.
Professor Guy McPherson and I toured Aotearoa N.Z. in both 2014 and 2016, we delivered the message that no one wants to here about the 6th great extinction and our place in it. The director of the excellent Going Dark documentary Pauline Schneider filmed our 2016 tour and is currently editing a documentary of the tour and the wonderful experiences and people we met. This is the Facebook page ” Only Love Remains: Dancing at the Edge of Extinction” and the trailer for the documentary is embedded here:
Professor McPherson is about to embark on another selfless, unpaid speaking tour of the United States in July and will be touring Australia in November, all tour details can be found at the “Coming Events” tab at his blog Nature Bats Last.
I have been asked to sail a yacht back from Australia to New Zealand in November so no doubt I will be attending some of Professor McPherson’s Australian tour presentations before setting sail on another Trans Tasman passage, this time on a 43 ft Catamaran.
How long have we got? That is the 7.5 billion human and untold billions of other species question. Your guess is as good as mine or Guy’s
Scientists always use cautious language. We also appreciate understatement.

I believe it is a dire situation and I am hoping beyond hope that there is a way back. I am an optimist but even I am starting to doubt that we can change the damage that has been done.

This is an excellent article that reinforces my belief that future articles on climate change will document some of the unraveling but continue to down play the fact that the energy balance of the planet has been irrecoverably lost and tipping points and feedback loops are now the driver of the 6th great extinction.

More bullshit from #Copout23 and Democracy Now telling everyone we only have 5 yrs to bend the carbon curve down.
Delusional or deceitful, judge for yourself.
