Sam Carana has chosen to keep his or her identity secret so after flicking a dice Pauline Schneider was chosen to be the voice of Sam Carana. Professor Guy McPherson and myself asked questions both our own and one from Joey Casey a member of the Nature Bats Last Facebook group
We discussed Sam’s “Climate Plan”, it can be found here;
One of my questions was; As we watch the collapse of the Arctic Sea Ice and the meandering jet streams how concerned are you about further disruption to the Atlantic Meriodonal Overturning Circulation?
Sam replied;” One of the biggest dangers I see is that a cool freshwater lid is growing on top of the surface of the North atlantic, near the Arctic Ocean, and that this is sealing off hot water underneath the sea surface from the atmosphere. Slowing down of AMOC will result in an increasing amount of hot water accumulating underneath the surface. As storms grow stronger, chances increase that a sudden inflow of hot salty water will enter the Arctic Ocean and reach sediments at the seafloor that contain huge amounts of methane.”

The certainty of our extinction is not in doubt. But us humans don’t credit anything that’s not immediate and in our faces. That we’ll be all gone in 200 years time along with the biosphere that gave us life, you might as well say that’s forever as a timeline. I think Sam is a woman. Could she be Natalya Shakhova?

I won’t speculate who Sam Carana is.
I respect anyone who wants to remain anonymous. When the consequences of doing so triggers so much hate, vitriol and animosity I’m not surprised they don’t want it in their every day lives.
I’ve never carried such a ‘poisoned chalice’ as this message.
The cognitive dissonance surrounding denial and acceptance is at the least ‘fascinating’ but also mind numbing for me. The worlds middle class and bourgeois can’t fathom that they are in the midst of losing their privilege. The higher you live, the further you fall.

She’s so aware that we are over the railing off the cliff, isn’t she? I’m assuming she doesn’t have/isn’t going to have any children.
I get asked by the publisher of the OB Rag now and then to fact check people and if needed, end their troll behavior. Being the publisher he can’t say what he wants to say and let’s me do it for him. He made me an unofficial OB Rag staff member a couple of years ago…
And here I went again opening my mouth to shut up two different guys who just don’t get why the hell we DON’T need new nuclear plants. The second dude did a personal attack on the author of the piece so I metaphorically slapped him down, too. But I do it pretty well, no?
No reply from either but then I rarely get one back as I don’t leave much wiggle room most of the time…
So I kind of understand what Beril ends up dealing with. But I think I’m much more ornery than she is.
I like this woman. Intelligent and sensible with a soft spot in her heart that she shows now and then.
