“The Rapture”, a strategy for dealing with or speeding up Runaway Abrupt Climate Change?

Evangelical Christians have captured the White House that slaves built and with a steady supply of cheeseburgers and ego-massaging they have control of the “Twitterer in Chief”.
These lunatics believe in “The Rapture” and hastening it’s arrival.
“Just like many other Christian brothers and sisters, I eagerly long for the second coming of the Lord Jesus. We abide by the following passage from the Bible: “Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord” (1Ts 4:17). For this reason, we foolishly look up to the skies longing for the day that Jesus will return and take us up into the clouds so that we can be with the Lord.””The Lord is trustworthy. The Lord promised that He would take us into the heavenly kingdom in the last days. The Lord’s promise certainly will be accomplished and fulfilled.”

These psychopaths and sociopaths see climate change as ‘Gods will’ and fossil fuels are his gift to power the rapture. At the time of writing, the momentum to impeach is building relentlessly (so much for the democratic process!!! ),with the fundamentalist Mike Pence ready and waiting to step into the breach the minute the twitter in chief has an ‘accident’.
“But there may be another secret to Pruitt’s tenacious grip on the agency that he’s busy undermining. Like several other members of the constantly churning Trump Administration who’ve managed to hold fast—Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Energy Secretary Rick Perry, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson, and Vice-President Mike Pence—Pruitt is an evangelical Christian.” Are Evangelical Leaders Saving Scott Pruit’s Job
Climate Scientist Katharine Heyhoe is another case in point;”She’s an evangelical Christian. Her husband is an evangelical pastor, even, in a faith whose followers are largely skeptical of climate science.” Texas scientist and evangelical takes to the web

How on earth could you trust a scientist who believes in an ‘Immaculate conception’ and creationism??

“Well this is where hope is, right here in this room, ah it’s with us”.
Then we have the erudite Chris Hedges who one day challenges the fact that ‘Hope’ is unimpeachably good, then the next moment opens a presentation with the ridiculous comment above and looks like he is on the brink of crying at the 1m 50s mark! Generally I enjoy Chris Hedges writing and presentations but every analysis from him is clouded by his belief in a (presumably?) white guy on a surf board flying around in the clouds, who is supposedly omni-potent but stands aside watching as the military industrial complex rains bombs down on the people of Yemen, Syria and Gaza and surfs blithely by as we exterminate 150 to 200 species daily.

Discussing her “ministry” to the U.N. last year, Bachmann claimed that “the return of Jesus Christ is imminent,” and noted that “the clock is striking 11:59 on God’s time clock and as history is culminating in as read in Revelation.”

Bachmann explained the supposed importance of her new mission:

I believe that God is starting a new thing, and because the time is short before Christ comes again to this earth, He is giving everyone one more chance.

Evangelical leaders are pushing President Trump to name former congresswoman and Christian extremist Michelle Bachmann next ambassador to the United Nations.

“First thing in the morning on April 5, before a meeting chaired by Representative John Shimkus and another with the Solar Energy Industry Association, Energy Secretary Rick Perry headed to the Department of Health and Human Services, according to a copy of Perry’s schedule obtained by Fusion. There, Perry was scheduled to meet for an hour-long “Cabinet Member Bible Study. He has praised the new administration for its power to “change the course of America in ways that are biblical.”
“It is safe to say that God is a Capitalist,” Drollinger once wrote, “not a Communist.” In a January radio interview, Drollinger praised then-senator Jeff Sessions, who “hungers and thirsts for the Scripture,”
“Vice President Mike Pence, HUD Secretary Ben Carson, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, Energy Secretary Rick Perry, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, CIA Director Mike Pompeo, nominee for Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue, HHS Secretary Tom Price, and Scott Pruitt, head of the Environmental Protection Agency, have all sponsored the Capitol Ministries Cabinet Bible study, according to literature put out by Capitol Ministries.”
“Drollinger also argues that climate change is impossible because God promised after The Flood never to do anything like that again. Drollinger preaches against “radical environmentalism” and that to believe that human activity could have devastating impact on the environment is not just mistaken, but the result of godless pride: “To think that man can alter the earth’s ecosystem—when God remains omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent in the current affairs of mankind—is to more than subtly espouse an ultra-hubristic, secular worldview relative to the supremacy and importance of man,” Drollinger wrote recently. “It follows that we can all rest assured and wholly rely on God’s aforementioned promises pertaining to His ability and willingness to sustain our world’s ecosystem.” Many thanks to political analyst John Steppling for the lead to the link; The Trump Cabinet Has It’s Own Weekly Far Right Biblical Study Group

This is the level of Insanity and Delusion existing in the US administration as we rush headlong towards annihilation.

I'm an anti-imperialist, environmental activist and blue ocean sailor, who is passionate about the earth and all it's inhabitants without favour. Brace for imminent impact as we bare witness to the non-linear unraveling of the biosphere and habitability disappearing for most if not all complex life on the only habitable planet we know of. To quote President Niinistö in North Russia: ‘If We Lose the Arctic, We Lose the World’. Folks we have lost the Arctic.

  1. These people are no different that those that ran the Inquisition, that burned ‘witches’ in Europe or hanged in the US, No different than the Conquistadors, the Crusaders,or the Taliban that blew up the Buddha statues in Afghanistan. The same as the Roman Legions that brought Jeezuz by the tip of a sword slaughtering all who didn’t believe throughout Europe. The same minds as the kings of the Saud family’s Sunni-ruled Arabia or the Shi-ite mullahs of Iran. Or the Hindu violent thug currently ruling India and just so fucking many more throughout written human history that it boggles the mind.

And here I am living surrounding by mad christians with guns with a shitload of them completely in control of this county (the primary local election a couple of weeks ago had ZERO non-Republican candidates) and all the small towns in the area. Every single one voted for Trump, all the cops did, all the christian preachers, ministers, priests… Complete 1-party control.

This sentence caught my eye: “The vast majority of Christian nationalists never engage in violence. Nonetheless, Christian nationalist thinking suggests that unless Christians control the state, the state will suppress Christianity.” It’s incomplete in my estimation. It should have added:

“Or worse, have a government that will completely ignore it altogether and politicians who are not swayed by ignorant superstitious nonsense to install laws that don’t promote liberty for everyone.”

Being ignored is worse than anything to these idiots.

After Trump, Christian nationalist ideas are going mainstream – despite a history of violence

As the climate and biosphere collapse, does anyone think these crazies are going to get any better? As everything falls apart I’m expecting the worse because there won’t be anybody to blame but ‘others.’ That’s the pattern I see reading world history…

    Big sigh.

  2. And Salman Rushdie was just stabbed by a guy running on stage in New York. Doesn’t matter what religion they’re all extremely capable of committing the most heinous crimes. A man named Hadi Matar who lived in NJ. The Fatwa from Iran’s top mullah was increased to $3.5 million US in 2012. If Rushdie doesn’t die poor Hadi not only failed at reclaiming Islamic ‘honor’ (just like fundie Christo-honor), he won’t be eligible for the prize money.

Salman Rushdie: Man arrested after author attacked on stage

Well, at least nobody around here has rushed up to stab me for my non-christian book I published, eh Kevin? You read it; it’s not what they want to hear wouldn’t you say?

Leaked Tapes Unveil Amy Coney Barrett’s Secret INSANITY

Psycho cultist fanatics and where I live, my home, is within the map showed. So far I haven’t had anyone come up and tell me I should leave. So far. Don’t know exactly how I would respond if/when that happens…

Armed activists show up to library and demand they ban books

Incredibly lurid blazingly red/orange melting ball for a sunset, and the half moon is red as hell from the particulate & smoke also.

  4. Sorry about the link not showing up. Here’s the link:

I have a friend that lives up there, she said it is getting more insane by the week and she doesn’t even go off the property anymore. Retired, stays home and works on her garden while avoiding others. She really enjoyed my book but there wasn’t a single neighbor she thought she could share it with that would have any understanding of it. Rather the opposite…

  6. More craziness from the Fascist GOP Republicans, and they aren’t kidding. What do you do with a rabid dog???

Majority of Republican Voters Say US Should Be Declared a ‘Christian Nation’

More than 60% of GOP voters supported codifying Christian nationalism even as they said the U.S. Constitution does not support such a declaration.

    • Kevin Hester says:

      Haha, slip of the tongue.
They all treat it as a Christian country with all its hypocrisy’s and now they want to make it official.
These are classic behaviours of ascendent fascism. They get more overt by the hour

  7. This is getting waaaay too nuts here, Kevin, far too real with the implied violence. Instant reversion to the 13th Century Europe but with modern weapons… Have you noticed that nearly all of the mass shooters in this country are right wingers/neo-liberals/religious believers? I have and it’s getting downright spooky to even be around people in a store. Not only that but I still wearing an N95 every time I have to ‘mingle’ which is drawing frowns and disgusted looks from fucking morons in the GOP/MAGATS Fascist Party.

    Betty Bowers, 8/15/22
“Religious Freedom” is Neither (or subtitled by me: “what the Talibangelicals & Inquistion Catholics are actually doing to this country’s laws”).

Now the psychos on the US un-supreme court is about to legalize State officials to completely IGNORE the winning vote if they don’t like the outcome, and they can then send their own ‘electors’ to the Electoral College to vote the way the politicians tell them to. I mean, not that the Elector College should even exists being as corrupt as it is, but literally throwing out the votes? completely discounting them? Wow. That’s brazen banana Republic crap, ya know? Expected from 3rd World dictatorships…oh wait, dude! Isn’t that what is actually coming? Holy shit.

Sekirk Range weather: still 85’F on the last day of the first week of October. Dry, sunny, no rain expected, fire danger is still high in these mountains as it is all over the US West…

  8. These people are fucking stupid. I mean, don’t reproduce to keep your genetics out of the species kind of stupid. And they are violent and use their hippy longhair Prince of Peace as a model to kill off those that ‘don’t believe.’

The impression that it will turn deadly is becoming more pronounced in this country.

What the hell can a sane person do when morons rule this country and it’s likely to turn completely Fascist as I see nothing to stop the steamroller certainly not the so-called ‘opposition party’ of neoliberal wealthy corporate Democrats who are funded by the same billionaires. So this will devolve to some form of a Stalin, Mussolini, Hitler, Francisco Franco, Pinochet (put in your own favorite dictator!) that will justify ANYTHING GOES.

Am I going to experience a modern Inquisition? More and more likely indeed. This is pretty fucking scary, Kevin. Paying attention to Florida DeSatan any?

  9. Kevin Hester says:

    This is genius:
““Hey, if you get raptured, what happens to Petey?” It was an excellent question, and I didn’t have an answer.”
“A couple weeks later Carol came back and suggested we start After The Rapture Pet Care together. She said she had asked several Christian friends the same question she’d asked me, and every one of them would pay for a service to ensure the care of their pets after the Rapture. I had also asked some fellow Christians their thoughts. In every case they wished there was a way to prepare for their pets’ survival.”
Only Evangelical Christians would come up with this scam 😉

    • Beyond genius, or maybe this entire concept is so deeply twisted that the concept is incredibly far beneath being genius?

It actually fits quite nicely into the realm of ignorant stupidity full of religious fanaticism mixed with a large dose of hubris we-so-special thinking. Isn’t there something about the planet being overrun with demons and massive worldwide wars etc etc? So it’s likely your ‘pets’ will end up being food, yes? It’s what we do during starvation times, eat EVERYTHING.

Shows these fanatics really don’t get it about anything. Unable to be fully cognizant. I mean, expecting people to take care of your pets when some alien conqueror disappears people with jets crashing into the ground around every airport as the pilots disappear from thousands of planes all at the same time. Imagine the vehicles suddenly driverless crashing by the millions. Nuclear power plant workers, oil refineries, oh my the potential for endless deaths all within minutes is awe-striking!

But then I wonder just how many REAL followers of Heysus there actually are that life clean enough lives. Maybe only a couple will be Raptured and nobody will notice. Bet they never thought of that!

Irony will not take a back seat, eh?

  10. I’m just a bundle of happy thoughts today it seems! So continue that line I’m adding this! Three links on three different threads so far today.

    American Values or Christian Beliefs
I’m about to take my steeping tea and go out to buck up a red fir on the n/w corner of the property that went down last winter in a windstorm and was chopped up by the utility company before it took out the lines (another tree stopped it at a 45 degree angle). Might as well get it in before it gets too wet.

“2 in 5 Americans, nearly half of Christians, believe ‘we are living in the end times’: poll
Evangelicals and Black Protestants were most likely to say the apocalypse is imminent”

    • Oh please, NOT another Rupert Murdoch-owned media outlet’s opinion! Though they are probably right in terms of their poll numbers because there are so many fucking ignorant & deluded people in my country….

      Evangelicals = US Taliban

Black Protestants = under-educated descendants of slaves still suffering under the boot of imposed religion by their masters and Jim Crow policies.

Christians in general = The ‘new’ Jews as opposed to the ‘old’ Jews who wouldn’t eat pork who, like the Mormon Christians, decided to write their own version of ‘the book.’ What’s the difference between the old testament and the new testament and the book of mormon? Essentially nothing as all were written by people wanting power over others…

So here is some Betty Bowers for you this fine morning to give you a much better view of how these people think who are in this poll that I didn’t bother looking at.

  12. We need some humor. The first six minutes of the ‘Misquoting’ link had me laughing, and then I thought of Robin Williams…

Robin Williams on Jesus, Resurrection, Christians

Everywhere I look (or read) things are fucked up, so here’s 11 minutes to help set your mind straights.

Some of the commenters-I read a few-would have seriously freaked over this Chapel Hill Professor’s talk….heh heh.

  13. This country is going over the falls aiming at the theocratic

Christian Nationalism vs. the Separation of Church and State

The Founding Fathers wisely recognized what religion would become in the hands of charlatans: a theatrical performance and political tool to hypocritically showboat their “piety” as a way to manipulate voters for political gain.

  14. What’s that old saying? What’s good for the goose is good for the gander? Welllll:

Conservative Christians Can Expect More Businesses to Refuse Service
Christians aren’t the only people with beliefs and values

    View at Medium.com

Can you imagine the screams of ‘persecution’ and it’s ‘my right of religion’ that would come from denying service to anyone wearing a cross around their neck? Oh my!

    Selkirk Range weather:
Shifting between partly cloudy or an inversion layer to bright sunshine and blue sky. Got cold last night due to yesterday’s lack of clouds but was in the mid-40s/8C about 2pm. Sun is just breaking through coming in my window and the rays are sure warm for this time of year…

It really hasn’t snowed since the December ‘Bomb Cyclone’ out of the Arctic (Polar Vortex) that brushed by me. Just an inch here or a couple inches there, a few dustings overnight that completely melt off during the day. Rain both last month and Still have a snowpack but it’s just rock-hard icy crap with meltwater on top that makes it slicker than frog snot on a heated window.

Roofs drip water all day, and it rained Tuesday all day. So much for winter, eh?

My snowboarding hill keeps trumpeting what a wonderful winter they’re having…with a whole 86″ of base the 2nd week of February. Twenty years ago this low-elevation hill averaged 305″ a season with powder dumps that were frequent. Not anymore.

I’m already trying to figure out how to survive the coming El Nino predicted for this summer. Holy shit, worse than the 120’F/50’C of 2021 which was Year 2 of the La Nina cooling trend? I honestly have no idea.

  16. Finally!

A Christian who admits he isn’t a follower of that hippy peacenik Libtard Palestinian-born, short curly-haired brown-skinned Jesus.

Proving that what is commonly called ‘Christianity’ in this country has absolutely nothing to do with anything. A completely made-up pile of oozing smelly dog-doo.

A Local Pastor Is Furious To Find Out Jesus Was A Libtard
Photo by John Price on Unsplash

Local Evangelical pastor Brett Thompson today renounced his Christian faith after reading the New Testament, and realizing Jesus Christ sounds quite a bit like a “libtard.”

“I couldn’t believe it!” said Thompson. “I realized it had been a while since I read from the New Testament because most of my sermons are about judging…

My question is now what the hell is he going to do? Become a Jew I guess because all he’s got left by denouncing the ‘New Testament’ at his church is the oldest parts which is OF COURSE all about the ancient hate-filled Hebrew mythical shit.

So it is back to Leviticus and all the rest of the seriously loony vicious and extremely violent Old Testament stories? Probably will have to use the Torah, too, I’m thinking.

    Won’t that be fun?
