“President Niinistö in North Russia: ‘If We Lose the Arctic, We Lose the World’”
Clearly we have lost the Arctic as one of our major planetary thermostats.
Myself, Beryl Sirmacek, John Doyle and Arctic Oceanographer Jim Massa discuss the unravelling in the Arctic and the cascading consequences of lost albedo and habitat for the Arctic fauna and flora both above and below the ice
I mentioned the possibility of the Great Barrier Reef having another bleaching event unfold late in January 2022; Great Barrier Reef could face another mass bleaching by end of January, forecast says
Guy McPherson and I interviewed Jim Massa on our radio show Nature Bats Last;
“Natalia and Igor have done an enormous amount of work studying the methane issue. They have covered a lot of area between the Russian side of the arctic ocean as well as Siberia itself examining what is happening to not only the ESAS and Laptev but the permafrost in the tundra itself. Those who are quick to dismiss their work, say they are being hyperbolic about the methane time bomb are really missing the forest for the trees. If they wish to debate their estimated levels, okay, have that debate. That’s a legitimate scientific debate. But to be dismissive of the threat posed by methane is imo a grave error in judgment.” Jim Massa We discussed the threat of methane in the ESAS and the work of Dr Natalia Shakova and Igor Semiletov Current rates and mechanisms of subsea permafrost degradation in the East Siberian Arctic Shelf

Beryl brilliantly mocked the delinquent corporate construct the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. I have presented evidence on their corruption here; It’s Time to Acknowledge the Spectacular Success of the IPCC.

Kevin! Gratitude abundant for sharing your time and wisdom. Your rant about the meandering jet stream… Priceless!!

Alarming information. Up till now, I had only read that we had 10 years or so before the situation became irreversible.
Given the importance of the arctic to the overall health of the planet it seems that it may be time to take more desperate measures.
Perhaps Solar geoengineering focused on the arctic is a possible solution since loss of reflectivity in that region is a big part of the problem ?

Oops, I’ve just realised that I have left out my evidence that even Shell Petroleum admits that 5C is baked in;

“Forces profound and alarming are reshaping the upper reaches of the North Pacific and Arctic oceans, breaking the food chain that supports billions of creatures and one of the world’s most important fisheries.”(Source: Susanne Rust, Unprecedented Die-offs, Melting Ice: Climate Change is Wreaking Havoc in the Arctic and Beyond, Los Angeles Times, December 17, 2021)

Warmer in Alaska Than San Diego This Week as Temperature Record ‘Pulverized’
https://www.commondreams.org/news/2021/12/29/warmer-alaska-san-diego-week-temperature-record-pulverized
It is -11C today but waiting for snow. I’m colder than Alaska OR San Diego!
Sorry about the double post on ‘If We Lose the Arctic’. Too many readings and posts going out that sometimes I lose track…

“Unprecedented rainfall
Along with the algae blooms, 2021 was also the year of the first ever witnessed rain falling on the highest and coldest areas of the ice sheet. An event also measured by PROMICE and GC-Net automated weather stations.”

It’s all being taken care of, no more worry about sea level rise because SEA WALLS. Billions of dollars for miles of sea walls that will, well, employ a lot of people building them and make the employers very very wealthy from federal contracts. And judging by previous behavior it probably will be called the War on Sea level rise.
When to Build Sea Walls
https://www.counterpunch.org/2022/01/07/when-to-build-sea-walls/
During the month of December 2021 two warnings of impending sea level rise were issued by highly respected groups of climate scientists. These are professional scientists who do not deal in hyperbole. Rather, they are archetypical conservative serious-minded scientists who follow the facts…

I’ve been following Guy McPherson for years & Kevin Hester for some time.
How much ice could a global pop. of 5,000,000 manage to melt?
In 1964,at the age of 16, I watched a TV program about population. At some point over the next few years I decided to not procreate. One problem, a growing 8,000,000,000 populations of Clever Apes. For each parent that has a child,each parent increases their CO2 footprint by 50%? Be fruitful & multiply? Nothing like a species overpopulating it’s habitat.
I’ve peer reviewed the first 35 seconds. The most important data in history? 😉
Too bad Adam & Eve didn’t see this video. One son was a killer the other raised flocks of methane producers.
An old saying: “I have fewer tomorrows than yesterdays.”
