Warmongering and the Climate Crisis

The latest war in Europe forces us to address the issue of warmongering and the responses to it as it adds to our already perilous climate and extinction crises.
“In 2017, the US military bought about 269,230 barrels of oil a day and emitted more than 25,000 kilotonnes of carbon dioxide by burning those fuels. The US Air Force purchased US$4.9 billion worth of fuel, and the navy US$2.8 billion, followed by the army at US$947m and the Marines at US$36m.”

The US military with 800 off shore military bases and the independent states response to the threat it poses is grinding the living planet into dust.
The article below is a year old so the damage will be worse than stated. Add the emissions from the war in Ukraine to this already dire prognosis.
“If the US military were a country, its fuel usage alone would make it the 47th largest emitter of greenhouse gases in the world, sitting between Peru and Portugal.”
US military is a bigger polluter than as many as 140 countries – shrinking this war machine is a must

William Kallfelz mentioned that the US taxpayers via the military industrial complex, are giving $33 Billion in ‘Aid’ to Ukraine. Russia will clearly see this as a declaration of war by the USA.
Glenn Greenwald has gone into some detail on the effects of warmongering;
Biden Wants $33 Billion More For the War in Ukraine. Which Americans Benefit?

Abby Martin interviewed Professor Guy McPherson in 2013; Human Extinction by 2030 Guy wasn’t as aware of the Aerosol Masking Effect when this interview was recorded.

Brace for imminent impact as we bare witness to the non-linear unraveling of the biosphere and habitability disappearing for most if not all complex life on the only habitable planet we know of. By every possible means, I try to contribute to the creation of a free and secure world; so that the world’s peoples can enjoy freedom and security, my people among them, and from this starting point and principle I state my opinion on serious international issues and problems whenever I can, hoping that this will have a positive impact on international politics.
In this article I refer to Ukraine, which I consider to be a real problem.

On so many fronts the author nails this analysis of the dying empire.
“The key to understand this is that the overuse of resources to the point of unsustainability almost always lends a short term political advantage over those who are more reality conscious and think generations ahead.”
This is exactly the root of our predicament, short term political advantage at the expense of the youth’s future or lack thereof.

Herein lies the real reason for the proxy war in Ukraine.
Ultimately, to the lunatics in the military industrial complex, it’s just “Business” and the longer the war in Ukraine continues the more these pathological lunatics will profit.
The sane amongst us can see that provoking China and Russia at the same time is insanity.
For the war profiteers it’s another “Killing”, pardon the blood drenched pun.
Let’s not forget these wars put the climate change crisis on steroids.

‘Really Scary Stuff’: US Drone Crashes During Encounter With Russian Fighter Jet

    https://www.commondreams.org/news/russia-downs-u-s-drone
    ___

The US EUCOM propaganda is absolutely stunning in its simplicity, isn’t it? “Forced the US to bring the drone down in international waters” because one of the Russian jets “struck the propeller” of said drone.

Look at the tail configuration where the prop is. How the FUCK does a jet moving how fast manage to hit the propeller of one of these assassination machines without totally wrecking itself and also crashing?

And the rest of the memo is also ridiculous since the US claims it as reckless, environmentally unsound, unprofessional, etc etc as if anything the US is doing 8,000 miles from the US is environmentally sound and not reckless and OH SO PROFESSIONAL while warring on how many countries at the same time now? Seven, eight, ten? I can’t keep track there are so many.

    WTF, ya know? Insanity.

Oh, and the US politicians just voted to keep their new piece of territory in Syria in perpetuity it seems. You know, the fucking oil fields the US is pumping and shipping out along with the most fertile farmland in that county that is guarded and completely under US army control through the huge base ‘Camp Conoco.’ The resolution to leave, get fuck out, was soundly defeated by both sides of the corporate party that rules this Fascist Empire. Holy shit, how much freaking longer is all this going to hold together before something just breaks?

Oh wait, the banks are crashing again just like 2008, another game of dominoes same people same game, and of course the federal gov will ‘bail out’ the corrupt rich just like Wbush started and Obummer continued in 2009 while throwing millions of people out of their homes under the wheels of the Capitalist bus. This is how this game is played, you know? I guess letting the ‘free market’ decide is only good for austerity of the working class? That ‘free market’ thing seems to be followed only when the wealthy are making money and not so much when the wealthy owners’ greed fucks themselves.

People are panicking and withdrawing money as I know a couple of people that just did this in the last couple of days. Emptied their accounts, literally thousands of dollars now at home in a bag.

This country is crashing. Like that one post…slowly stumbling along like a passing out drunk until suddenly you land on your face. It will happen very very fast.

+ That Francis Fukuyama (the end of history guy) was taken seriously for even a minute by anyone is one of the great mysteries of our time, right up there with the appeal of “Ted Lasso” and the political ascent of Pete Buttigieg.

Francis Fukuyama: “The invasion of Ukraine was such a shock because in our lifetimes we’ve never witnessed one country militarily invading another.”

Another master class from Andy helping us navigate WW3
I lived in Germany when the wall came down and NATO agreed to not spread “One Inch East”. Since that agreement 13 former Soviet states have been railroaded into NATO, the North Atlantic Terrorist Organisation.
Russia and China are proud nations that have suffered tens of millions of lost lives when barbarians have attacked them previously, those memories never fade.
Russia and China have never been so united, I take great heart from that new paradigm.
WW3 is clearly underway, clearly I support the axis of resistance in opposition to what Pepe Escobar correctly calls “The Empire of Chaos.”

The environmental cost of war in Ukraine
Nearly a year and a half into Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, its impact has been felt most acutely in lost lives, flattened cities and destroyed infrastructure. But the environmental damage from combat has also contaminated Ukraine’s soil, water and air, at a cost the government is estimating to be $56 billion. This impact is likely to be one of the longest-lasting legacies of the war, persisting for decades after the fighting stops.

How proxy war in Ukraine became a boon for US Big Five arms makers

The Ukraine conflict has become a great boon for American Big Five defense contractors, sending their stocks up and boosting their profits. In January 2022, they openly lauded a deteriorating state of global peace and security as a business opportunity for their investors and employees.

Shares in Lockheed Martin, RTX, Boeing, Northrop Grumman and General Dynamics grew in value 12.78% on average in just one year since the start of the special military operation.

▪️Lockheed Martin provides Javelin anti-tank missiles, HIMARS mobile artillery rockets, and PAC-3 air defense missiles, as well as other munitions and missiles to Ukraine. The company’s revenue for the twelve months ending March 31, 2024, was $69.6 billion, a 5.28% increase from 2022.

▪️General Dynamics is known as the producer of Abrams main battle tanks which up until recently had been used by Ukrainians at the front line. They’ve been recently quietly withdrawn to avoid the threat from Russian drones. The company’s full-year revenue for 2023 was $42.3 billion, a 7.3% increase from 2022.

▪️On the eve of the conflict RTX Corporation is famous for producing Stingers, Advanced medium-range air-to-air missiles (AMRAAM), MIM-104 Patriots and air defense munitions used by the Ukrainian military in the combat zone. RTX reported sales of $68.9 billion in 2023, up 3% compared to 2022.

▪️Northrop Grumman has supplied Ukrainian troops with various types of military equipment, including Bushmaster automatic cannons and ammunition and, allegedly, RQ-4 Global Hawk aircraft. Northrop Grumman’s sales increased 7% to $39.3 billion in 2023, compared with $36.6 billion in 2022.

▪️Boeing is known for providing Ukraine with ground-launched small-diameter bombs. Boeing earned $77.7 billion in revenue in 2023, ending the period with a net loss of $2.2 billion.
