The latest war in Europe forces us to address the issue of warmongering and the responses to it as it adds to our already perilous climate and extinction crises.
“In 2017, the US military bought about 269,230 barrels of oil a day and emitted more than 25,000 kilotonnes of carbon dioxide by burning those fuels. The US Air Force purchased US$4.9 billion worth of fuel, and the navy US$2.8 billion, followed by the army at US$947m and the Marines at US$36m.”
The US military with 800 off shore military bases and the independent states response to the threat it poses is grinding the living planet into dust.
The article below is a year old so the damage will be worse than stated. Add the emissions from the war in Ukraine to this already dire prognosis.
“If the US military were a country, its fuel usage alone would make it the 47th largest emitter of greenhouse gases in the world, sitting between Peru and Portugal.”

William Kallfelz mentioned that the US taxpayers via the military industrial complex, are giving $33 Billion in ‘Aid’ to Ukraine. Russia will clearly see this as a declaration of war by the USA.

And five days later we have Trump’s Fascist BIG BEAUTIFUL MILITARY PARADE coming to wreck the streets of Washington DC with tanks and all sorts of other tracked vehicles. Swarms of low-flying armed military jets and helicopters flying overhead rattling people’s homes. Airports shut down I’m guessing, and supposedly 7,000 soldiers marching down the streets. This is going to cost upwards of $100 million (cost estimates keep going up).
All for the wannabe Dictator’s birthday celebration!
It’s going to shut down the city in the middle of a work week, close schools, block off huge swaths of streets and highways. I wonder if Trumpie is going to have a big stand set up so the marching army can all turn and salute? It wouldn’t surprise me in the least. Sure will be a huge security nightmare…be a lot of those people everywhere, too.
Glad it ain’t my area. Hope they have a heat wave.

Brilliant work from Clare, Mick and Glenn on the genocide in Palestine and the collusion from All of the Western Powers.
Mick made the point that political, cultural and sporting sanctions isolated the original Apartheid state. He mentioned Rugby boycotts; they were a hall mark of our resistance to the original apartheid state.
All this warmongering puts our climate crisis on steroids and diverts our attention from the existential threat of climate breakdown.
As our predicament escalates the lawyers from the Tobacco industry, who flipped to advising the fossil fuel industry on disinformation, will create diversions to distract us from the most important threat in the history of our species.

China and Russia will be salivating about the lemon, known as the F115 stealth aircraft, being deployed to the Venezuelan warzone.
