Narrative control during the great unravelling was the topic of this discussion.
Professor McPherson discussed the role that the IPCC is playing in controlling the narrative around the poly-crises we are confronted with. A video analysis of the corporate construct and corroborating evidence is embedded at: It’s Time to Acknowledge the Spectacular Success of the IPCC.
As always, the issue of the Aerosol Masking Effect came up and I mentioned an article from China titled: China’s fight against smog has actually sped up global warming
I mentioned Johan Rockström, Director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research has recently stated that we’re only at 1.2C and said the tipping point for the Amazon rain forest is between 3 and 5C. Guy made a video about the Amazon becoming a net emitter of CO2 since at least 2020. Edge of Extinction: Amazon Tipping Point?
I’ve previously written about the corporate ‘Go Too’ scientist Michael Mann who was instrumental in developing the “Hockey Stick Theory” and now he can’t see it. That critique is embedded at Scientific Mal-Practice from the Mann Himself.
The six-dozen feedback loops we have triggered are documented at Climate Change Summary.
Debs brought up the collapse of insect species and numbers and I referenced Professor Paul Ehrlich’s paper and book titled; “The Annihilation of Nature”
Professor McPherson mentioned the Strona and Bradshaw paper about Extinction Cascades. That paper and our interview with Professor Bradshaw are embedded following; Professor Corey Bradshaw explains the unfolding “Extinction Cascades” on Nature Bats Last.
I mentioned the late great Michael Dowd and his audio recording of William Catton’s book “Overshoot.” Mike and I believe it is one of the most important books ever written. Catton Overshoot
Professor McPherson mentioned commercial greenhouses pump CO2 into their greenhouses to promote growth, and I responded about rising CO2 in the atmosphere reduces the nutritional value of crops and also increased CO2 in the atmosphere reduces our cognitive abilities.
Pauline pulled up some graphs of Wet Bulb events unfolding in the continental USA and we discussed having to update my blog post when the Wet Bulb Rubicon could be crossed over at 31C. Wet Bulb Temperature Soon to Become Leading Cause of Death
I mentioned the Iranian government sending non-essential workers home to avoid heat stress, the evidence is embedded at Iran’s surprise ‘unprecedented heat’ shutdown raises questions
The Iranian article mentions threats to the power system; Professor McPherson and I have delved into that topic also: Science Snippets: Much of North America Faces Electricity Shortages this Year- 2024
As our predicament accelerates the corporations who own us, will do anything possible to maintain Business as Usual. Question all framing around the poly crises as we circle the abyss.
Edward Bernays would be so proud of his legacy.

During Guy’s segment he mentioned this analysis he did in 2023 titled Science Update: Earth’s Energy Imbalance.
He shows a graph with a ‘Saw tooth’ exponential increase in temperatures. The term ‘Saw tooth’ refers to the seasonal dips and rises that we would always expect to see but the latest data doesn’t show dips.
Does that mean that feedback loops outweigh seasonal fluctuations?
Food for thought.

Dear Kevin,
I watched the video since I could not attend the live session.
There was one humorous moment. Eliminating capitalism ‘starting at the bottom’ was defined as ‘riding bicycles’. That was the worst thing that this panelist thought might happen?
I have friends who have used a barter economy in a rural area for many years (they said it started with Reagan.) They supported the neighbors in bad times and natural disasters, regardless of political belief (it is MAGA country and they are not).
Lately, there have been disturbing events where the woman has been challenged for wearing work pants flecked with paint. She was accused of ‘taking a man’s job’ by a total stranger, after he nearly attacked her at a gas pump for filling up at a hose that he wanted to use. She is a skilled woodworker and was remodeling her own kitchen. I told her to never go anywhere without her husband. The location: Northern California mountains.
This will not end well. I’m in an even worse place, with Canada betrayed by its own politicians and only the First Nations fighting against the wholesale rape and dismembering of the environment.
I told her to never go anywhere without her husband. Not even to get gas.
The saddest part of the broadcast was your story about the flying fish. I will never forget seeing them when on a boat trip in New Zealand in 1996.
thank you again,
Nancy Beiman

A really well-crafted article which aligns with our live stream two days ago.
I went into detail about my electrical qualifications and why I believe electrifying this set of living arrangements is impossible, without more mining, @Catch22 and it still relies largely on hydrocarbons to generate electricity.

Leave the US blind, deaf, and it’s already freaking dumb as shit (which you’ll recall has no brains at all!).
1918-1920s A Global Pandemic
1920s The Roaring Twenties when right wing presidents let the wealthy rip off anything and everything they could, and the stock market soared.
1929-1930s The Republican Great Depression and the rise of Fascism
Sure seems to be following exactly the same pattern, doesn’t it? I expect the economy to completely crash in the next 2 years and with 150 million more people to feed and even less jobs due to computerization, it’s going to make the 1930s look like a picnic in the park by comparison.
Very very bad is coming, Kevin.
