“The Rapture”, a strategy for dealing with or speeding up Runaway Abrupt Climate Change?

Evangelical Christians have captured the White House that slaves built and with a steady supply of cheeseburgers and ego-massaging they have control of the “Twitterer in Chief”.
These lunatics believe in “The Rapture” and hastening it’s arrival.
“Just like many other Christian brothers and sisters, I eagerly long for the second coming of the Lord Jesus. We abide by the following passage from the Bible: “Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord” (1Ts 4:17). For this reason, we foolishly look up to the skies longing for the day that Jesus will return and take us up into the clouds so that we can be with the Lord.””The Lord is trustworthy. The Lord promised that He would take us into the heavenly kingdom in the last days. The Lord’s promise certainly will be accomplished and fulfilled.”

These psychopaths and sociopaths see climate change as ‘Gods will’ and fossil fuels are his gift to power the rapture. At the time of writing, the momentum to impeach is building relentlessly (so much for the democratic process!!! ),with the fundamentalist Mike Pence ready and waiting to step into the breach the minute the twitter in chief has an ‘accident’.
“But there may be another secret to Pruitt’s tenacious grip on the agency that he’s busy undermining. Like several other members of the constantly churning Trump Administration who’ve managed to hold fast—Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Energy Secretary Rick Perry, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson, and Vice-President Mike Pence—Pruitt is an evangelical Christian.” Are Evangelical Leaders Saving Scott Pruit’s Job
Climate Scientist Katharine Heyhoe is another case in point;”She’s an evangelical Christian. Her husband is an evangelical pastor, even, in a faith whose followers are largely skeptical of climate science.” Texas scientist and evangelical takes to the web

How on earth could you trust a scientist who believes in an ‘Immaculate conception’ and creationism??

“Well this is where hope is, right here in this room, ah it’s with us”.
Then we have the erudite Chris Hedges who one day challenges the fact that ‘Hope’ is unimpeachably good, then the next moment opens a presentation with the ridiculous comment above and looks like he is on the brink of crying at the 1m 50s mark! Generally I enjoy Chris Hedges writing and presentations but every analysis from him is clouded by his belief in a (presumably?) white guy on a surf board flying around in the clouds, who is supposedly omni-potent but stands aside watching as the military industrial complex rains bombs down on the people of Yemen, Syria and Gaza and surfs blithely by as we exterminate 150 to 200 species daily.

Discussing her “ministry” to the U.N. last year, Bachmann claimed that “the return of Jesus Christ is imminent,” and noted that “the clock is striking 11:59 on God’s time clock and as history is culminating in as read in Revelation.”

Bachmann explained the supposed importance of her new mission:

I believe that God is starting a new thing, and because the time is short before Christ comes again to this earth, He is giving everyone one more chance.

Evangelical leaders are pushing President Trump to name former congresswoman and Christian extremist Michelle Bachmann next ambassador to the United Nations.

“First thing in the morning on April 5, before a meeting chaired by Representative John Shimkus and another with the Solar Energy Industry Association, Energy Secretary Rick Perry headed to the Department of Health and Human Services, according to a copy of Perry’s schedule obtained by Fusion. There, Perry was scheduled to meet for an hour-long “Cabinet Member Bible Study. He has praised the new administration for its power to “change the course of America in ways that are biblical.”
“It is safe to say that God is a Capitalist,” Drollinger once wrote, “not a Communist.” In a January radio interview, Drollinger praised then-senator Jeff Sessions, who “hungers and thirsts for the Scripture,”
“Vice President Mike Pence, HUD Secretary Ben Carson, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, Energy Secretary Rick Perry, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, CIA Director Mike Pompeo, nominee for Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue, HHS Secretary Tom Price, and Scott Pruitt, head of the Environmental Protection Agency, have all sponsored the Capitol Ministries Cabinet Bible study, according to literature put out by Capitol Ministries.”
“Drollinger also argues that climate change is impossible because God promised after The Flood never to do anything like that again. Drollinger preaches against “radical environmentalism” and that to believe that human activity could have devastating impact on the environment is not just mistaken, but the result of godless pride: “To think that man can alter the earth’s ecosystem—when God remains omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent in the current affairs of mankind—is to more than subtly espouse an ultra-hubristic, secular worldview relative to the supremacy and importance of man,” Drollinger wrote recently. “It follows that we can all rest assured and wholly rely on God’s aforementioned promises pertaining to His ability and willingness to sustain our world’s ecosystem.” Many thanks to political analyst John Steppling for the lead to the link; The Trump Cabinet Has It’s Own Weekly Far Right Biblical Study Group

This is the level of Insanity and Delusion existing in the US administration as we rush headlong towards annihilation.

I'm an anti-imperialist, environmental activist and blue ocean sailor, who is passionate about the earth and all it's inhabitants without favour. Brace for imminent impact as we bare witness to the non-linear unraveling of the biosphere and habitability disappearing for most if not all complex life on the only habitable planet we know of. To quote President Niinistö in North Russia: ‘If We Lose the Arctic, We Lose the World’. Folks we have lost the Arctic.

  1. You just can’t make this shit up, Kevin.

This is from my home beach news down in Ocean Beach-San Diego. The comments…well, we just couldn’t help ourselves now can we? I’m sure these folks know I’m gonna burn in their ‘loving god’s hell!’ Religion is the BANE of human existence. How much more pleasant would this planet be without it I wonder? Hard to imagine that much less strife and misery, eh?

Sure hope these people die of this disease so I can piss on their graves. I’m real tired of stupid but then in a worldwide Pandemic I’m not about to hop on a plane and fly south to do so. I can only hope that someone else that lives down there thinks of it.

I’m feeling especially cranky today. I’ve got to stop reading reality LALALALALALA palms over eyes! Two more article links below this short cut& paste to continue to rub the religion button raw! This is like wading through pig shit and yes I know what that smells like.

Small Group Burns Masks as ‘Tools of Terror’ in Protest in Mission Bay Park

As if casting out demons, dozens of people tossed pricey KN95 face masks into a fire pit Friday in Mission Bay Park.

The coverings were depicted as “tools of terror” being used to “turn neighbor against neighbor.” They were a “precursor to adult mandatory vaccination” and “getting everybody angry.”

Said one older man, wearing a “MAGA FIGHT CLUB” shirt: “I’m ready to die for this mission” but: “First of all, we need to get Trump re-elected.”

The discarded five-layer masks — fresh from their cellophane packaging — carried their own defiant messages into the Ski Beach flames at an event labeled “Burn Your Mask Bonfire.”

Examples included: “This mask is as useless as Gavin Newsom,” “Lies by the mainstream media” and “Nice try, Satan.”

A woman with a young girl tossed many masks. One was labeled: “This mask does not protect you or me.” Another said: “Jesus and only Jesus can save.”

As two officers watched from a San Diego police vehicle, the event organized by Amber Lynn Gilles of Starbucks mask-refusal fame could be mistaken for any other beach gathering. (But no marshmallows were roasted. In fact, no refreshments were served at the two-hour rally.)

A handful of critical observers wore masks but didn’t get into the faces of the three dozen responding to Gilles’ summons on Facebook. One man labeled the group “batshit crazy” and rode away on his bike saying “people are dying.”

The event began about 40 minutes late — with an entertainer unable to activate a small gasoline generator. It was meant to provide electricity for amplifiers.

So the barefoot Gilles went to Plan B, moving featured speakers to the fire pit instead of a grassy overlook.

Most passionate was Genevieve Peters, whose 22-minute May 7 video of being kicked out of a Rancho Palos Verdes Trader Joe’s has 144,000 views (and many more on other channels).

“For millions of years, we have had viruses. … We have had bacteria. And all sorts of … microorganisms,” she said, searching for the right pronunciation. When they are infectious, she declared, “God gave us our immune system.”

She touted hydroxychloroquine as a way to prevent COVID-19 and urged the crowd to watch “America’s Frontline Doctors,” the viral video that health experts have denounced as dangerous.

Peters insisted that countries using hydroxychloroquine to treat malaria can boast of only one or two deaths per million. But that belief, promoted by President Trump, has been debunked. (Few people in malaria-prone countries are even taking such drugs, said factcheck.org.)

Genevieve Peters (right) speaks about COVID-19 and masks while Amber Lynn Gilles watches at a mask burning event. Photo by Chris Stone

She likened Americans obeying mask rules to Jews following Nazi edicts amid the Holocaust.

“When people (say) I’m not being kind and … thoughtful — I might as well get on that train in Germany as well,” she said before leading a chant of “Do not comply, do not comply.”

Peters was followed by Joshua Coleman, who contends his 6-year-old son Otto was partially paralyzed after receiving vaccinations when he was 17 months old.

Coleman’s overriding concern was that “adult mandatory vaccination is coming.”

Next was Orange County’s Carmen Estel, whose website calls her “a Holy Fire Reiki Master Practitioner” who channels healing methods from Jesus and angels.

Estel was adamant: “You cannot be living in faith if you’re living in fear” of the virus. “I am not dying in my time. I am dying in God’s time. … If God wants me to die of the virus, I will die of the virus.”

She said darkness can exist only in the absence of light.

“So when it comes to [Gov. Gavin] Newsom, all we have to do is keep shining a light on that dark mother-effer,” she said, pausing before the near-vulgarity.

Estel said nobody sees anyone dying of COVID. She seemed to backtrack a moment later.

“Everybody is clued in now. This isn’t really happening,” she said at sunset. “The hospitals are empty. Nurses are furloughed. Have you all noticed this?”

Three rappers, including an apparently married couple, performed for 10 minutes, followed by Estel handing the brand-new face masks out of a box, offering marker pens to inscribe notes before the roasting.

A prayer ended the event just before 8:30 p.m. Everyone held hands.

    The Pandemic Disproves God

    Welcome to the Trumpocalypse

Maybe the administration would take a bit more care with the coronavirus pandemic if it weren’t loaded with folks who are looking forward to the end of the world

    • Since these are the people that really push their mental aberrations, I thought people would REALLY enjoy looking at this link about serious nautical matters (especially you, Kevin!). Be prepared for…DUMBKIRK!

Oh, you have just got to look at this and realize this just happened. For real. The stupids are so stupid it burns. I laughed so hard I snorted chilled sun tea out my nose. I’m not kidding, and it was uncomfortable but I couldn’t stop laughing. With all that is going on in this fucked-up 3rd world country, real laughter is far and few between.

The only thing missing from these pictures (and the short vid I couldn’t watch but heard about from my surf buddie in the Islands last night who did) is the Jesus Flag, a few Wolf’s Angel flags, and maybe a couple of Swastika flags alongside the stars and stripe flags.

Hold onto your hats, start bailing with anything you’ve got!

You guys really hate Christians huh?
      Well that’s not unusual.
      Climate Change is gonna Kill.

      • Well, the last sentence of this reply made sense of a sort…except that I’d change the wording to Climate Collapse and that it has already, and will continue, killing an enormous number of Earthlings every day. Along with the insane extinction numbers of species caused by the dominant primate’s industrialized and rapid destruction of habitat…Earthlings being, of course, everything that is alive on the planet not just limited to one specific species of which you are a part of, Justin.

As for how not unusual it is to “really hate Christians huh” I guess you don’t look too deeply underneath the facade to get a glimpse of the hypocrisy of the majority who call themselves that? Especially the so-called ‘leaders’ of the herd! Read through the links that have been posted on this thread if you want to have a better grasp of that. It isn’t a pretty sight to see I must admit, but people tend to ignore their own behavior that exposes the sad fact that they don’t follow much of any of the basic rules that their Christ supposedly said.

But running from cognitive dissonance is pretty normal for our species, isn’t it? To see that happen right in front of you to someone else is quite startling…but how much worse it must be when it happens to your own brain. When you have the gears in your head jam up; boy does that look painful. I’ve seen it happen.

That Arab Semite Hebrew dude you are talking about, the one used as the figurehead of this splintered-off subsection of that Western Asia cult, seems to have laid out a few specific codes of conduct to follow to change, to improve, the religion he was born into. That ‘Sermon on the Mount’ certainly isn’t followed in truth very much by those that loudly profess such beliefs. I mean, Onward Christian Soldiers isn’t exactly a Prince of Peace song that he would have promoted now is it? And the concepts of love one another, turn the other cheek, feed the poor, succor the weak? I have a bumper sticker on the back of my truck that reads:

Get Real. As if Jesus would ever own a gun and vote Republican.

I walked out of a store once and found a woman standing there reading my stickers. You know what her comment was? And I quote “NOT MY JESUS!” I asked her what caliber of handgun did she think Jesus would have carried. Her face…I wish I had a camera. I think she had a cognitive dissonance moment because she was absolutely unable to speak for a few seconds and made strange grunting noises instead.

That we have a terribly garbled message from second-hand sources (or 3rd or 10th etc etc) of ‘what he said’ written by unknown persons started at least 400 years after death, and not a single piece of writing that was actually written by him, doesn’t help much. Trying to separate fact from myth and fiction to help understand and get past the prejudices inherent in a Bronze Age civilization ruled by Kings and built by slaves who thought lightning was thrown by pissed-off gods and disease was a sign of displeasure from them…is just about impossible.

I understand that belief in gods was just a way to try to explain what our ancestors didn’t understand, but with modern science we have come to understand a hell of a lot about natural processes and we don’t need the mysticism and myths any longer…excepting those of us (and that’s a majority I’m afraid) that are still stuck with Bronze and Iron Age thinking being unable to process new information that contradicts what their society requires them to not think about. Questioning authority is frowned upon.

Belief is NOT THINKING, Justin, it is a herd mentality of follow the leader that we have not, as a species, grown out of yet. And look where that has got us! A ravaged planet, a dying ecosystem and acidifying ocean, destroyed habitats, wars and hate and destruction and a planet grossly overpopulated by two-legged primates who invented microscopes and flew to the moon but act like locusts literally using every natural resource up as quickly as they can…in order to gain wealth and status while having more babies.

And it’s not just the sons-of-Abraham Western Asia ones; look at India or China with their degraded and collapsing habitats. Hindu-based in one and a very mixed bag of beliefs in the other with about a billion and a half of our species in each country. More than a third of the total population of the planet! And they are chewing through what’s left of their finite resources just as we are with an exploding population that shows no sign of slowing down…

If our species somehow survives the bottleneck we are in without going back to being Bronze Age (or way back to the Sticks, Stones, and Sharpened Bones Age), and manages to keep a grasp of a good portion of the knowledge we have gained in the last few hundred years… I know, this is looking more unlikely by the day but let’s just imagine! If the thinking/processing intelligence we have shown that we have could somehow come out on top and shape a new pattern of living for our species without the violent divisive confrontational behavior of religious beliefs that separate us all from understanding that we are just ONE SPECIES among many on this planet; get rid of the damned ‘every group vs THE OTHERS’ pattern that is so prevalent in our behavior, maybe we might survive as a species who gets out of childhood and matures into a mature thinking adults that we have the potential to become.

But with the damage already done and with distinctly horrifying consequences facing us due to that damage…not much chance.

These Bronze Age belief systems of control imposed on children have a direct and horrible impact on all of this because that 0-5 age group is when our species is most vulnerable to being warped and detached from the reality of what and who we really are. And religion and greed seem to be unfortunately tied together in a knot and there doesn’t seem to be any way to get them separated except to start early and NOT teach the children these myths. The Founding Fathers of this country tried to impose this division by explicitly writing a separation of church and state in our Constitution, but like so much else, it’s poisoned by those that benefit.

And I’m sure you were indoctrinated in your childhood. I’m sorry there isn’t anything I can do to fix that except invite you to read and think, but then again belief doesn’t like critical thinking skills. Big sigh.

Seal your book arrived, the postage was ridiculous, put your shop link here and I’ll pay it.
It’s in a long que but I’ll get to it, many thanks.

      • Glad it finally arrived! I was wondering if they were going to ‘lose’ it. And I agree about the postage, I couldn’t believe it when the clerk said that USPS had cancelled ‘economy shipping’ and ‘media mail’ to out of country addresses. The last time I shipped something in that direction was decades ago, surfer friends in OZ, but I wanted you to have a copy and I decided to eat the cost if I had to. Thanks for being willing to cover it!

What is awful is that anyone writing a book in the US is facing this, I’ve got riversurfer friends in Austria that may not because of this. Bummer!

I’m getting very good reviews from people who are reading it. The most common one so far? “This is pretty intense! But it’s hard to put down.” Yeah, well, so was your shark story and the travels in Africa story!

My Paypal link is my email address you see in my sign-in. My shop right now is having ‘issues’ because it’s an old program, and the update the webmaster just did worked fine but the shopping cart wouldn’t work with it so they had to delete the update and start building a entirely new site & shopping cart to work with all the new apps on cellphones that people are using to buy the book (and gear I build for that matter). I’ve got three orders, two from Oregon and one from NorCal, that were unable to get through the checkout but people that are signing in and clicking on the ‘send check or money order’ haven’t had any problem. Nor did yo when you ordered it for some reason. Damn glitchy machines… So just go to Paypal and put in my email and it should pop right up.

I’ll send you an email confirming this.

  2. Kevin Hester says:

“Mr. Pompeo talks about the rapture. “We will continue to fight these battles,” he said at a “God and Country Rally” in 2015, because there is a “never-ending struggle” until “the rapture.”

“Be part of it,” he said at the meeting, at the Summit church in Wichita, Kan. “Be in the fight.”

    • Ya do realize that Trump doesn’t believe a word of it, though. If he was a ‘believer’ like psycho Pompous Maximus and Pence the robotman he NEVER would have held that bible upside down in that photo op a while back because he would have known that the bookmark never points down! Bet those two losers, and like billionaire Education Sec Besty Prince-DeVos, would never have made that mistake!

Thought you might actually enjoy this read. In a way it is kind of heartening:

    • RightWingNutJobs, Kevin, complete and totally flipped-out bonkers. Shouldn’t be allowed in any positions of power nor allowed to have children, or at least raise them! My opinion of course!

And when in positions of power they do incredible damage, catastrophic levels of damage, and she most certainly will as a full supporter of fossil fuel corporations and a viciously anti-science adherent. More really bad news for any kind of mitigation attempt with our collapsing climate. Not that it will do much good at this late runaway stage anyway, but it would be nice to see even a modest attempt by our species to SAVE the biosphere just enough for the rest of the Earthlings that live on it to perhaps survive even if we drop off the map! I would really hate for this planet to end up looking like Venus.

These RWNJs seem to be endemic to this country. A plague of such consequence that SARS II Covid 19 is just a temporary hiccup compared to the never-ending damage people like her cause. What a disgusting set of circumstances I live with to have be born in a place where such severely critical thinking-challenged beings are in power and have control of aspects of my life by violent force and I can’t stop them.

But then looking back at our written history that’s what seems to always happen, yes?

The crap they spew sure isn’t predicated on what their godling Hey-sus supposedly said! What’s that line about rich men, something about eye of needles, and camels? The so-called ‘Prosperity Gospel’ these new model christians sure doesn’t fit very well into that Sermon on the Mount speech, does it? Or helping the poor, or do unto others, or all men are your brother, or turn the other cheek, etc etc etc. Just money and power. Egads, is there madness in the house of their god??? Oy vey, there certainly always has been since the Hebrews invented monotheism, the single god that rules everything. That’s something the Jews actually did!

Remember the photo op pic of Trump holding that freaking bible at that church in DC after having the streets cleared of protesters with clubs and gas? Upside down with the bookmark hanging! I literally snorted into my teacup when I saw that picture in an article, and the editors hasn’t caught that yet! That’s how much of a ‘believer’ that mentally deranged dude is!

But he did get one of these psychotic maniacs onto the unSupreme Court, didn’t he? Barrett is there for LIFE! Holy shit, and I thought just having too many regular Catholic christians was bad enough. She’s like having Jim Jones of Guyana fame appointed. Hopefully she’ll get real upset and maybe mix up some poisoned Kool-Aid? One can only hope I guess…

Barrett is a bona fide member of one of those fringe cults, an extremist Catholic one, that ‘practices’ by falling on the floor in a spastic fit while mumbling unintelligible gibberish and calling it ‘speaking in tongues’ which nobody can understand since it isn’t any language at all. But this is what she is supposed to do, just like Wbush in the 2000 right wing coup:

A cut: [Harmeet Dhillon, a legal adviser to the Trump campaign, said in an appearance on Fox Business that “we’re waiting for the United States Supreme Court—of which the president has nominated three justices—to step in and do something.”

“And hopefully Amy Coney Barrett will come through and pick it up,” added Dhillon, who parroted the president’s baseless claims of suspicious activity by election officials in Pennsylvania and elsewhere. “There’s no guarantee of that… so we have to fight this on the ground and make sure that we challenge in every place, and we are.”]

This is her job, why Trump paid her off with this lifetime (LIFETIME!) job; to install Trump as it was the right wing nutjobs on the unSupreme Court in 2000 to install Dick Cheney and his sockpuppet in power. And they did an mind-numbingly good job twenty years ago, didn’t they? This election is NOT over until demented Frat Boy is dragged out. By his tiny little pickle if necessary. And all the whack-a-doddles lickspittles that surround him.

Trump’s Barrett Nomination Another Step Toward Christian Fascism
All fascist and totalitarian movements paper over their squalid belief systems with the veneer of morality.

      This is rather unsettling, too:

How the Christian Right Won the Culture Wars

But this latest appointment by Trump is showing some unexpected consequences:

Coney Barrett confirmation stirs ‘sleeping giant’ pro-choice religious community

So no matter what you’ve been hearing about the US election and the possibility of Biden the neoliberal Republican winning over Trump, nothing is set in concrete yet. Lawsuits flying just like 2000, an entire Federal judiciary hand-picked by Republicans and an unSupreme Court that literally stage a right wing Coup d’Etat in 2000 now having 15 of the last 17 judges picked by the Republican Party weasels.

And remember, Wbush endorsed Joe Biden for President. What does that tell you? OH MY FUCKING HELL.

      Joe Biden, The Republican

And the bitch Biden chose as VP is a corrupt prosecutor who thought throwing poverty-level parents in jail for their children being truant from unfunded ghettos schools full of cops in uniform…and that her denying a DNA test to a man on Death Row who’s accusers recanted saying he didn’t do it to prove his guilt or innocent was perfectly valid because the LAW HAD ALREADY SPOKEN. She isn’t black, either, because she has NO USA SLAVES AS ANCESTORS. The color of her skin has nothing to do with the generational trauma that real black people in this country are dealing with. Neither, by the way, was Obama which is why he was acceptable to the monied interests in this country. I looked up Obama’s campaign contributors, the big ones, and they were the same corporate bodies that funded W Bush. Doesn’t anybody READ anymore? It was fucking obvious what he was.

I’m pretty disgusted as you can plainly see, and with a pure psycho bitch now aligned with the other extremist Catholics on SCOTUS, I see the Dark Ages in the US future. Which is now not really in the future. I’m not a hopey-changey guy obviously!

    • I forgot these little tidbits from Jeffrey St. Clair of counterpunch that I didn’t know where to find them until I realized they were from the ‘Roaming Charges’ section he does most Fridays and wh’la! There they were!

His stream of consciousness rant can be hilarious. Below is the christian god thing from Roaming Charges 5March 2021 for your enjoyment (it’s worth reading through every week).

+ Much of the Bible is repetitive, contradictory & confusing, right from the very beginning: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” But maybe it makes more sense if we substitute “Mr. Potato Head” for “man.”

+ In yet another edifying Bible story, God created light on the first day. But he waited until day four to create the Sun, which is, of course, the opposite of how the power supply system works in Texas. (No annoying questions from the class on how God counted days before the Sun.)

+ I know the old testament God was super-needy, very touchy and extremely vindictive, but is it really possible for an omnipotent and omniscient deity to be “insulted” by transgendered people?

+ I was reading in Robert Zaretsky’s astute little book on Camus (A Life Worth Living) that God, who couldn’t shut up through the early chapters of the Bible, stops talking after he couldn’t come up with a good answer for Job’s legitimate question about why he’d been singled out for such extreme abuse. And, of course, there is no good answer because God (supposedly omniscient) makes a wager with the Great Adversary over how many torments otherwise well-behaving human beings can stomach before they crack…

    • Well U.R. Norman,

At least that’s the theory they’ve come up with so far. Since we have never really been the most intelligent beings that we think we are, there is every chance that that could change in the future if we survive and don’t end up back in the stone age worshipping the lightning gods again if our species survives at all…

You have noticed that science continues to discover new insights and modification of their theories is an on-going process. Oh wait, Big Bang? Why doesn’t any of the religious texts that suffocate the world say anything about that I wonder?

This is worth reading even thought it doesn’t exactly say anything about religion which this thread is about. But hell, beneath what it says lurks a wrathful god full of revenge and bitterness…

Bolsanaro is a born again Christian, some of these fruit loops believe in “The Rapture”

    • Yeah, there are a LOT of crazies in control of a huge part of the world. It’s not just the US, that’s for sure. All I read about, throughout history, is these or those gods said to do this or that or the other…and it was all about power and control and resource acquisition and wealth going up the pyramid from the bottom layer who fought the war for the wealthy; and of course what was stolen from the conquered people by whatever country started the war…

Why is it that the gods always seemed to support the ruling oligarchies?? Hmmm, methinks there’s an inconsistency with the purported ‘truths’ being flung about like monkeys throwing shit in a zoo cage… Gods are… a useless waste of time. If they weren’t Zeus would still be worshipped by people who killed others who didn’t believe in him…and Attis and Horus and…so many to choose from.

But that’s just my thinking because I’m pretty dang sick of hypocrisy that threads all through human history. Nothing but lies fed to children, and like Goebbel’s said during Nazi Germany’s rise (paraphrased): Give me a child for their first five years and I’ll have the man for life.

Can you imagine a society that doesn’t indoctrinate their children with this crap? The world would be a better place…I would hope! Start with Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny and Tooth Fairy and work up to discarded the other myths maybe? Nah, that would disturb too many people!

    • As usual cannot access with dial-up. But then do I really want to hear about the insanity that I see all around me? My northeast corner of Washington state has an 18% vaccination rate, the neighboring county just dropped back into phase II (which my county should be in but the politicians figured out how to aviod the state metrics), and the church-going people are loudly proclaiming that jesus is going to keep people from catching it.

Reading this madness is enough for me!

  7. Hey Kevin and others, The first is cut & paste part of the email from Jen Sorensen, a not-mainstream cartoonist, that came with last week’s cartoons. I am a supporting subscriber of her work so there’s no link as you have to have the password, but she talks about this book that sounds pretty interesting. From the belly of the beast so to speak.

Personally I’d have to go with Religion as child abuse and this woman’s story probably sounds like it

The next pair articles links are two in a row on the same story. Do you think this ‘true believer’ is eligible for The Rapture? After all, he IS a Kansas State Rep politician and a school teacher and god DID tell him to do it… I’m not sure whether you’ll laugh at it or not but I love how people that think this way, you know mind-sick, seem to want to be politicians and rule people….

    she writes:

    Educated by Tara Westover

I don’t mean to give the impression here that elections are so rigged that people shouldn’t bother voting. (WHY THE HELL NOT? THEY ARE!)

…been trying to come up with a cartoon about the nutty Arizona “recount” and similar undertakings around the country for a few weeks now, but there’s only so much you can satirize sheer lunacy. There’s no concept to even argue against — it’s just an ever-expanding bowl of nonsense Jell-O.

While I’m on the subject of rural America, I wanted to share some thoughts on an excellent book I just finished, Educated by Tara Westover. The author was raised by a family of devout survivalists who thought doctors and public schools were the work of the devil. Reading the details of her childhood, it’s hard not to see direct parallels to the radicalism that’s gone utterly mainstream in Republican circles today — paranoid references to the “medical establishment,” fear of indoctrination in schools, obsession with armed rebellion against the government. Westover manages to escape her harsh provincial upbringing (with some difficulty) and attends college, where she learns about the wider world. The book is quite literally about going from darkness into the Enlightenment, and about women’s liberation — a term that’s passed out of fashion, but which feels particularly apt here.

What I especially like about this book as someone who grew up in a conservative, rural area myself, is that it conveys a sincere love of place without valorizing it, or the people there who are acting pretty badly. Consider it an antidote to Hillbilly Elegy — and to the mainstream media narrative that valorizes Trump supporters as “real” salt-of-the-earth Americans. You can love rural America and realize it’s not served well by fascism.

NOTE: I like this last paragraph because living very rural in mountains for the last 33 years surrounded by petty incompetents and the seriously critically thought-impaired armed RWNJ low-education low-income religious Republicans that honestly would rather see me dead for my herisies and blasphamies I can understand! Lots of Trump signs still up, Confederate flags flying from houses, and I hear gunfire a majority of the days of the year and not just during hun’in season…

southern Selkirks Range weather: Been over 100’F/38-40C this last week with 50sF/12C nights. Dry as a freaking bone here, mid-late July weather conditions. Fire district people are freaking, record heat with no real Spring rains. Miserable hot with humidity. I’ve been out in my sew shop most of the week during the day as it’s better insulated (because I did the entire building) and cooler than the house. Fans and swamp coolers going in both, never lived with AC.

The old husky died of a heart attack late last Saturday night and while digging a grave in the doggie graveyard the next morning all I just kept shoveling up was dusty dry dirt. The ground is drying out horribly fast…deep drying not just surface. Fire district has suggested that anybody with a lawn to keep it green around the houses… Continue to have breezy to windy conditions each day but not howling. Always getting dust blowing, though, with a little tree-bending. Today we’ve had a front roll in from the w/sw moving fast to the northeast and much stronger winds. Trees are arcing back and forth, splattering of t-storm hail and microburst rain squalls have hit this afternoon, and expected t-storm lightning up along the Canadian Border which isn’t good news whatsoever. Forests are wildfire dry dang near California level. The entire West Coast is primed to burn again! Temps are much cooler and a lot of that is probably the wind and large sun-blocking cloud masses going past. Though how long this will last I have no idea and neither do the weather weenies obviously because they are wrong so often nowadays.

    Do something fun today, Kevin.

In the psalm God had mentioned ” the earth inherits to those who work for peace ” . And Russia is in that place now , people should know that there is a reason why God has given Russia the Status of a country which has most advance weapons than the rest of this world . Nobody can deny this

  9. Lunacy from postings on billionaire sociopath Zuckerberg’s personal intelligence-gathering FaceBlech site? Oh the horrors!

Oh wait, supposedly this person’s god mentions (to which I might add did they take a photograph and get a signed statement to this effect?) that “the earth inherits” ummmm….exactly what when the loonies continue to brag about how advanced their weapons are especially if these freaking mind-sick primates start screeching in their cage and tossing shit around at one another like we always seem to do… Those ‘advanced god-like beings’ looking through the wire are obviously not very peaceful or even god-like if they allow a bunch of stupid-asses to destroy and poison this water planet and all the life on it.

Oh wait, it’s all ‘part of the plan’ to destroy hundreds of billions of innocent living earthlings in order to prove a point…what point is that you might ask? To ensure the deranged fantasies from some of these stupid asses who have ‘invented’ a million and a half or so invisible super creatures in order to control the rest of the stupid asses? Oh my, a self-negating trick, that!

Yeah, well, if/when these peace-loving governments (after all that’s the only reason they have to build these such advanced weapons is in the cause of peace!) start hucking these things at one another, again, we’ll see some serious peace I guess.

We’ll all be dead. Thinking on that, at least the lucky ones will get to flash into incandescence in an instant and never know… The few left? Back to running down and cooking the neighbors you don’t like as has happened during all the rest of the empire crashes in the last 9,000 years…

Pisses me off it does. Only the insane seem to get into positions of power on this planet, ya know? And now the US Navy is saying there really ARE UFOs that they have movies of, so let’s go ahead and build the US Space Force and spend trillions developing new weapons that will be absolutely useless against any species that can travel from solar system to solar system. Lunacy quadrupled but I love the Trump-invented Star Trek emblems now adorning the new uniforms, don’t you? Ahahahahaha you can’t make this up.

Which is a very apt description of these monsters. Not so. Christianity is based on the human/divine sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Catholics and other denominations that believe in some sort of transubstantiation believe that they are eating the flesh of Christ (“in substance”, if not “in form”), so that the sacrifice of the Mass is real, not symbolic. The wonder is that there are not more murders like this. But there are too many examples

I’m now definitely living in a Christo-Fascist Talibangelical Theocracy being enforced by an un-elected tiny group of Catholic Extremist/Cultists.

It’s not as if I haven’t been paying attention to this long-planned takeover for the last 40 years. The writing has always been on this countries wish list but since about the mid-70s it went into overdrive with taking over schools boards etc etc, ya know?

And I do not consider anybody put on the SCOTUS bench could ever even remotely be considered truly liberal; they’ve always been part of the problem just like the US Senate and Electoral College voting system was designed to keep the masses penned between voting for this rich white guy or that rich white guy. Pres. Obama has always been a part of that class, a good republican in fact if not under the label. He hung out with Republicans in college, not democrats or liberals even if he did sell weed in high school (and only the best schools in Hawai’i for him!). Both Bill Clinton and Obama were good ‘Reagan Democrats’ and of course so is Biden…

This is SO fucked up I can’t put it into words. The Abortion ruling is just a tiny slice of the pie these religious cultist extremists are serving up. Under the radar these fucks have effectively taken away the reading by cops during an arrest of Miranda rights, and they’ve cancelled the right of a prisoner who uncovers new evidence that proves their innocence. You can still appeal on Death Row but the court you appeal to won’t allow you to present new evidence, only what was presented in the first trial. The reason being that (paraphrased) ‘being innocent isn’t enough because it will make a mockery of our system of justice.’ Thomas the Clown rendered that decision… You know, the one whose wife was actively engaged in overthrowing the election for Trump?

This is insane. Isn’t this the point where people get the fuck out of the country? The Purges are coming as is the modern version of the Inquisition. Of course this is all wrapped up in the fog of nationalism with a bible in one hand and a bible in the other.

The picture on this article is priceless. How their offices haven’t been burned down by the christo-fascists yet is surprising but then those kinds of mentalities probably LIKE the picture…

The patriotic Virgin: How Mary’s been marshaled for religious nationalism and military campaigns

And this one fits right in there, too, because it’s what I’m facing:

Received my voting yesterday. There are 19 people running for local offices like assessor, county commissioners, sheriff, prosecuting attorney, coroner, etc. EVERY SINGLE ONE of them are Trump-voting republicans. ALL of them and each trying to out-do one another in fucknutteryness. Always a choice between bad or…bad. The DemocanRepublicrat 2-Face 1-Party State has really gotten this figured out, don’t they?

So I leave this as a token of the insanity that is not just coming but already here all around this country:

Building an armed army of violently mad cultists who are chosen by their god to destroy everything and take over. First 4 minutes or less should do it…

Fed Up Texas Paul SLAMS Republicans for saying there is no Separation of Church and State

May we live in interesting times, indeed.

  40. Kevin Hester says:

“On July 1, a slew of conservative Christians, including conspiracy theorist Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and anti-abortion zealot Abby Johnson, gathered to do far more than pray. During the event, host Gene Bailey urged the Christian audience and everyone watching the livestream to join together and recite what he called the “Watchman Decree.”

“Watchmen, in this case, refer to people who pledge to watch over the nation and make sure it’s run according to conservative Christian principles. Writer and activist Nick Knudsen shared the clip that went viral, but you can see it for yourself at the 1:24:00 mark in this video.”

Kevin Hester is currently living on Rakino Island, a small island in the Hauraki Gulf near Auckland, New Zealand, monitoring the unravelling of the biosphere and volunteering at the Rakino Island Nursery is currently developing a proposal to create a marine reserve near by. The Island has no grid tied electricity or reticulated water.  I catch my own water from the roof and generate my electricity from the ample solar radiation on the island.
